With Padmavat, what you have to take into account is that the numbers of the film are much lower. that's why I am saying an apt comparison is Bajrangi Bhaijan. It is performing exactly in line with that. The daily absolute numbers are also same for the last five days.

The drops of Sanju are 10-15% and it was about 5 cr short of what BOI expected it to do first week. Bur that's okay, because the levels are different. Padmavat and another such film, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, were operating at 10-12 cr weekdays, so of course the drops were bound to be lower.

Of course no denying Padmavat went nuts third week onward, almost like an Aamir film

None of my friends or family liked it, the controversy of it not being released, and SLB's earlier movies created the hype.

Padmavat wouldn't have made 200 without the controversy even if it released all over. now it would have sustained better than Sanju and that too from these high levels when padmavat was much lower and its easier to sustain from low levels. we don't need to have a crash course on bo now do we?

The movie made 284 and it would have beat dangal right 😆

Sanju would've beat bahubali had it released on xmas 😉

There was nothing great about padmaavat. The story didn't even make any sense. A barbaric leader waiting across the border for 6 months in tents just to meet and conquer a beautiful lady. Who does that?

Whatever money it made was all thanks to the controversy. Have said this before that SLB movies are highly overrated and he relies on these nonsense controversies to ensure collections.
