Lakhon hain nigah mein - Phir wohi dil laya hoon (1963)
This movie is a musical bonanza. Such brilliant songs from O.P Nayyar! This song has Joy Mukherjee twirling his guitar, ruing the fact that he cannot seem to find the love of his life among the bevy of beauties around, a theme oft visited in Nasir Husain's movies. In fact, a later movie, Kismet, has Biswajit twirling a guitar to a song that sounds suspiciously the same, even the lyrics - Lakhon hai yahan dilwale. Nevermind! I still enjoy the Rafi- O.P- Majrooh goodness!

Tere naina talaash kare - Talaash (1969)

Classical songs were Mannadey's forte and the way he sang them made them feel easy. They're not. S.D Burman composed the song to Majrooh's lyrics.

Tumhari nazar kyon khafa ho gayi - Do Kaliyan (1968)

This movie features Neetu Singh as a child artiste and is a remake of the Hollywood classic Parent trap. Biswajit and Mala Sinha lip-sync to Rafi and Lata while Ravi provides music to Sahir's lyrics.

Dil mein tujhe bithake, kar loongi main band aankhein - Fakira (1976)

Shabana Azmi admitted to crushing hard on Shashi Kapoor ( can't blame her 😳) and their chemistry is so evident in this song, that Jennifer K allegedly put her foot down firmly to her husband ever working with Shabana again!
Music and lyrics by Ravindra Jain and sung by Lata, the picturization is as funny as it is sexy - Iftekaar and Achla Sachdev wondering what their daughter is up to! 😆😉

.. the actor is charming for some reason... 😃I love these videos, where one person sings like a normal person, the other is watching them mostly, like a normal person 😛

The actress too, nice faces although the view is blurry/unclear :)

Loved this singing too, I am going to make a playlist on this type of singing lol..

Lata's rendition was nice too in her own style :) ..but the original is what it is ❤️

The actor is Karan Dewan and the actress is SwarnaLata. This movie also has another famous song - O Jane Wale Baalamwa (parodied by Kishore Kumar, I think in Half-ticket 😆) I totally appreciate your commenting on each song I post! 😳

Shankar Jaikishen's first musical contribution to RK films, after which they were firmly entrenched in the RK camp along with Shailendra and Mukesh. Brilliant music though. Every song in this movie is a gem (except Patli kamar hai that I'm not partial to). Nargis emotes the wonder of a new-found love as Lata oh-so-sweetly lends her voice to Hasrat Jaipuri's lyrics. This movie was also the newly established RK banner's first certified hit and gave them the iconic RK logo.

wow.. 😭😭 Love it so much, one of the most romantic songs ever. ❤️

The opening shot of the lake, that thing Nargis does with her eyes, RK's tears, the peaceful space between them 🤗 I am curious about the movie now.

Listened to O Jaane Wale, is that a dance form or drama, LB?😃 The performance especially by the man was so good lol.

Which one from Half Ticket, "aake ssedhi lagi dil pe" ??:)

Pandit Ravi Shankar's music is sublime as is the rendering by Lata Mangeshkar, Shailendra provides the simplistic lyrics as only he can, Leela Naidu is gorgeous and Balraj Sahni is suitably smitten. Awesome stuff! I understand from research that this song is based on raag Tilak Shyam.

Yes, brilliant music.. Leela Naidu has a beautiful charming face.. can not take eyes off her :)
beautiful Lata ji <3

I can't recall the movie, but KK sings the same song in that comical andaaz of his, slightly exaggerating the 40s mannerisms. 😆 I think it was Half-ticket, cos he just keeps doing crazy stuff in that movie. But I will have to do some research to confirm.

ETA: It was Padosan.. watch the clip from 12:08 onwards 🤣

Barsaat is worth watching - it's about the many aspects of love, showing the contrast between two friends - RK and PremNath, one who loves like his heart is breaking, and the other who breaks hearts. It exposes the dichotomy of the human mind - sometimes making you wonder if these 2 characters aren't the dark and light side of the same personality. The RK logo with the woman swooning in the man's arms, with him holding the violin comes from Barsaat.

In a movie that had mostly hit swing numbers like Shaam dhale, Shola jo bhadke and Bholi soorat, this lori stands out because of its simple, flowing tune and the way Lataji sings it. C. Ramchandra's music was ably supported by Rajinder Krishan's lyrics.

Beaaauuutiful :)

LB, the chorus and the ups and downs of tune in this song reminded me of another beautiful Telugu song :)

Yeah, I kinda get why Dheere se aaja ri would remind you of this song! Btw, isn't the actress Geetha, who appears in Mallu films? I have seen her in some Tamil movies too.

I see 😆 Padosan seems like an interesting movie, should I watch it? :p

Thankyou for the write-up about Barsaat.. I think I'm going to watch it next :)
I started watching Bandani (1963), LB.. I loved the movie and the music in the movie so far(about 1 hour into the movie), even the opening credits had good music 😃

LB, I have been searching for realistic movies from the black and white era, would you suggest any? I looked up on internet which led me to Indian New Wave(on wikipedia), would like a little guidance :)
