Well if you're not an open, overt feminist then what really is the point of being one. I think she means radical feminism is not her cup of tea but knowing Kareena, I shouldn't be holding onto even that little hope.

It's fine if she doesn't wanna identify as a feminist but statements like "I'm Not a Feminist, I Believe in Equality" give the impression that feminism is somehow against equality.. when equality is the basic tenet of feminism These type of answers actually mislead their young fangirls - I wish interviewers didn't ask clueless actors such questions or if they have to, at least correct them when they misjudge feminism!

just because it is "hijacked" doesn't make it false. Do you stop believing in good things just because of the bad apples? Will you stop speaking against corruption just because there are some government workers who do bad things?

With the way Feminism is mistaken as Radical and misguided Feminism where women wish for a stature above men(unless they deserve) just coz they are women, I do see quite a lot of people choosing the word equalist over feminism even though they both mean the same.
I have never really categorised as this or that but even I would choose the word equalist over the misguided term. Though, I'd choose better words.

If you don't know what overtly means

Overtly
(adverb)

openly; publicly.

I think the word feminist has lost its meaning because of people mistaking feminism with pedantic kind of feminism or misandry, hence don't want to associate with.

People believe feminists are like below:

Obviously above video is an exaggerated comedy, but you get an idea.
Like I remember once I commented in fb "we should not restrict women to houses, and they should have all the freedom", and someone responded something like "why are you saying 'we should', who are you to allow or deny a woman, god sexism is so deep rooted with man, they don't know they have no right to say they should".I asked that lady, than how should I have worded it, and she was like "don't comment on woman rights, you man don't have any right in this matter".

Because of these kind of fanatic behavior, people who generally don't understand the face value meaning of feminist, don't want to associate themselves with the word feminist.
But I think people like Katrina and Kareena, who are such huge stars and obviously are fluent in English should enlightened people about the actual meaning of feminism rather than trying to escape it because of what people perceive about the word.

Feminism is a RANGE of political movements and a very broad ideology which can mean a lot of different things. Sometimes, it is misconstrued as being wholly misandrist due to the extreme end of the spectrum and so some people distance themselves from the label "feminist". She said she believes in equality right? She is well-intentioned so why is it necessary to point a gun to her and others for something like this.
