They didn't changed the ethnicity, Alia played a Kashmiri girl.

Sehmat was a 19-20 years old Kashmiri girl, and Alia played it as it was though ajns. There was no manipulation of facts.


And I am not saying she is bad actor, but she is decent. But seriously she has not any spark till yet in any performance which can convince me she is a better actor than Alia. Of course that is just my opinion and not a fact.

And please don't take it as me saying your choice is wrong, I am just putting my side of story regarding Yami as Sehmat. And you are right they can manipulate age for Yami, but the thing people mostly complained was that Alia looks to young to play Semhat while in reality Sehmat was herself a young girl.

sorry, i dint put it properly... I didnt mean they changed the ethnicity... Its just that Alia is not convincing as a kashmiri, thats it... That is my only complaint about Alia playing Sehmat, not the age...

btw, I agree with @Rager ji, even Fatima wudve suited more look wise as Sehmat... since she is actually a kashmiri

Yes she is not a striking Kashmiri beauty, I give you that.

But she does not have the typical features, apart from being as fair. A stereotyped Kashmiri is someone with long nose, big eyes and checks like apple. Like Katrina(pre-corruption), Zarine, Yami, Fatima and so on.


Although it does not matter, as for now Alia is Sehmat of Bollywood.
