what the heck is going on here

sometimes when there are too many songs...they are not appreciated as much...passion is not there..it feels like mechanical

such topic should have one song from one person...

one song that means a lot to me for personal reason as it was dedicated to me by someone has already been posted...hence i am not going to populate this topic further

Hippo, I think you're talking about the 2nd song that I posted. First time I listened it when you'd posted it. I didn't know this song was special to you...

1. no it is not that song...but yes i have posted it so i was wondering maybe she got it from my post as its a pakistani pop group and many are not familiar with them

Okay, so I decided to add a little bit of trivia and thoughts about the songs I post rather than simply posting them in groups 😃. So please bear with me.

Meri yaad mein tum na aansoo bahana

na jee ko jalana mujhe bhool jaana

samajhna ke tha ek sapna suhana

woh guzra zamana, mujhe bhool jaana

This song, for me, is among the top Talat Mahmood songs ever and ranks among my favorite songs of that period. The music is by Madan Mohan. Madhosh (1951) is among his early works when he hadn't gained as much credibility as an MD and way before his more celebrated works such as Adalat, Anpadh and Woh Kaun thi came about. This is the most famous song from the movie - I haven't even heard any of the others - and it usually features in every Top Talat songs list.

There's heartbreak in this song, but there's a kind of comforting stance - a lover, resigned to his fate, urging his beloved not to think of him or cry for him - and to just forget him.

The lyrics by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan are touching especially -

Juda meri manzil, juda teri raahein

milegi na ab teri meri nigahein

and

mera naam tak apne labh pe na lana

Talat's mellifluous tones do absolute justice to this song, that is picturized on a rather non-descript actor that Wikipedia informs me is called Manher Desai, but the woman he's pining for is Meena Kumari, so there's some consolation there.😆
