Just before the ending...Before that night, the drunken night .Till then Nandini, for Sameer she was neglecting Vanraaj...
In so many scenes I cried ...Nandini gave a real bad time for Vanraaj...
After he confessed, may be it was like aankh khul gaya , she was woken from dream...She started thinking what all Vanraaj did...And how much he was going through, and how much he loves her...How much he wants her happiness..Even in drunken state, he was blabbering so much, but he was all thinking about her happiness, ...

It's good to watch... It's apt ending ...Because the audience are in the zone of Vanraaj. .. they get so emotionally attached to him...Every body would be feeling bad for him at the time when Sameer's call came ...

The story was purposely that I think...If they had shown Sameer's pov more ..His helplessness, and his emotions more may be more people would root for Sameer..

But yeah, that last crying scene,..They should have re-done it...That was actually funny...People who were emotionally attached to Sameer feel disappointed because of that scene..

Spot-on! His actions were saintly but he never once played Vanraaj like that because that wouldn't be believable. I don't even like marriage & I almost wanted to shout at her for putting him through all this torture. The only understandable character here was V which was interesting for me because i don't like seeing really nice/saintly characters in films & books, I want to see darkness, sex & black, lol. But it's a testament to Devgn's excellent talent that he made me root for him.

Beautifully put ⭐️

Maybe it's the directors fault then, he should've shot that scene differently, playing to the actor"s strength instead of weakness

Salman never showed his true love and the reason was his miserable acting or may be they never wanted to show it. It more looked like lust as he always wanted to get close to her but Vanraj showed he loved her and hence he got more preference than Sameer. Sameer just left Nandini and expects her to come to him while her family is in strong opposition made no sense. He should have fought for his love.

I kinda liked and disliked both men for various reasons..each showed love but also how some promises can destroy someone's life. And I didn't care for Vanraj marrying a woman he knew loved another..having intimate relationship and all and still being looked as the better guy..because he helped Nandini finally meet her love...much later.
Aish's role was confusing because if you love someone for so long, against all odds..why then, when given chance, you change tack again?

Maybe it was meant to show that love does NOT conquer all. That maybe marriage is more important..and also staying true to promises.

What it's fascinating is that it almost showed Salman-Aish-Abhishek 's triangle. SLB had some great premonition there.😲 (though I am not saying Aish still loves Salman..just the whole 'leaving ardent love and marrying a guy because he loved her').

I think Nandini chose Vanraj because she had made a commitment to him. When she saw how he kept his promise and came to find her love with her, she realised that marriage is about commitment more than love. I think that is what she said too. That's what I have always taken it as. It is about just standing by each other no matter what and that if she didn't stop the marriage itself when she could, then might as well stand by it now. Not everybody follows their heart, some people live by principles. She decided it isn't right to leave one for another and that it just wasn't meant to be.

I don't think Sameer was wrong to leave India for his promise either. For some people, their word or promise matters a lot. They don't take it lightly and it is a matter of honour for them. So that's what it was. If anything, for me that is what made him a worthy opponent to Vanraj. Like someone said here, Vanraj just got those opportunities to show his caring and mature side, his values. Sameer might have done the same or better if given a chance. He wasn't a man child, at least according to me. I think it comes across like that because of his fun demeanour and Ajay seems mature because he was so quiet and brooding. But that's just judging the book by its cover.

That is a very different and unique pov I have read till date about this movie. That above love and feelings, it was promises and principles that mattered more to all the three leads.

It does make sense.

I don't think he knew she loved other guy before marriage. Her parents know but hide it from him. But I don't remember them intimate in the movie. Only once he gets close to her before knowing the truth.
