This is a nasty old open secret about BW/film industry in general.

BUT I got shocked when I read about this math professor in Tamil Nadu luring her female students into prostitution. She got busted and arrested 2 weeks back.

So Saroj has stated something which is kind of an open secret, this kind of internalised misogyny makes difficult for mindsets to change.

Waise bollywoodwale are the biggest hypocrites who always are selective about their outrage and are ok with everything else happening in their industry .

i wonder why police raids/arrests prostitutes n never these casting couch ppl..
is it not really a sophisticated prostitution only?the prostitutes just takes
cash n the actors/actresses consenting for return of work /fame are
excusable?should they not be jailed too?should these sophisticated prostitution
be ignored as " its their life its their choice" then why look down upon the
red light area ppl?the hypocrisy of our society is so amusing..ppl run to take
autographs of few famed "sophisticated escorts" n does tauba tauba on the poor
unsophisticated ones.i would rather like to take the autographs of the less
fortunate prostitutes than these upper classy willing to do anything ones.

Not surprisingly this is the answer most producers and artists seem to give. All industries included. Tollywood, kollywood.

They dont condone such a practice but they equate to bribe as such and say about how there is always the lure but it is the responsibility of the actors to refrain from engaging in such acts

I don't see this only limited to bollywood. Almost all industries have such people and such practices going on. They trade sexual favours for promotions and higher increments. Harassment cells are a joke.She is right about politicians doing it too. Atleast with bollywood people talk and discuss. Condones those practices. With other industries its either to accept the offer or quit ur job. People pretend like nothing as such exists. They play on their desperations so I don't know if u can really call it consent but u can't even call it being forced because u can't prove it.

If ALL women/men dont pay Bribes when asked and dont offer Bribes to get Roles, Industry wud get cleaned. But, some people want the easy route.

According to me, Victims are only those persons who refused to do so and hence missed out on the roles. Not those like Sri Reddy who readily did everything to get roles but plays victim when the deal broke. Had she landed a big role, she wud hv shut her mouth.People like her who sleep around for roles botch the chances of other self respecting actresses who was relying only on their Talent.

Of course. I find it laughable that some women will sleep for roles and then claim they were exploited.

It's horrible that amazing actresses like Mira Sorvino were denied roles because they refused to sleep with the likes of Weinstein. Or here in India cases we know of like Adi Chopra offering all roles to Vaani or Mamta Kulkarni and Monica Bedi getting roles through their mafia boyfriends. Talented women were denied their rightful place and everyone knows that.

Then today we have cases like that Shanoo Sharma casting director. She's known to ask for sexual favours from the men she casts. And we all know about a couple of gay power weilders. Maybe some of the men will start their own METoo also. I thought Feminism was about equality.

There are women willing to offer their bodies and they are in no way exploited. They do it of their own freewill. If you don't get a role out of it and then cry rape...BOOO...better get it on some kind of legal agreement in black and white. Like that woman who accused Madhur Bhandarkar of rape after he had consensual sex with him in the hope that he would offer her a film role.

People need to open their eyes and smell the coffee. Telling the truth is not misogyny.
