I dont think age was an issue, cause since ages indians are used to Men marrying girls half their age.

The ONLY problem was the Male lead marrying the daughter of a woman whom he loved beyond limits. He didnt marry anyone else, after Pallavi got married to her love... such strong were his feelings for Pallavi, yet when Pooja came, he slowly fell for her and in the end married her. As someone said, its like marrying your own daughter..

Maybe had they showed him moving on, getting married and divorced, and then falling for Pooja, it wudve lessened his intense love for Pallavi, that might have made it more palatable for Indian crowd.

But even if that climax, i love the movie so much... Its so entertaining that i ignore the climax completely...

I think even then it would have been n issue..that would have lessened the intensity of his love for all 3 women..then it's not about pure love but about how easily one can move on..and that's not what Yash Raj films r known for 😆

The child of the person you loved and sort of brought up is like your own child. Or atleast thats what we see in movies...like Madhuri and Renuka were to Alok Nath's character in HAHK. You can probably marry them off to your own kids. But marrying them yourself is like incest in a way.

His love for Pooja's mom was one sided.. unrequited.
And usually people find it difficult to forget unrequited love coz that's someone u badly wanted but could't have..it's more like a fantasy..and fictional story in Ur head about something that never existed.
And he never met Pooja coz her birthday used to fall with her mom's barsi..ya he paid for her living, got gifts for her birthday but she was raised by Daima..don't think he ever considered her as a daughter..she was the daughter of the woman of his dreams..and it changed when he saw her..looking exactly like her mom.
And Viren did try to resist, discourage, explain things to Pooja but she persisted. He was even about to marry the other lady just to discourage Pooja..even when he didn't really love her.
We never know the complexities of heart..but calling it incest is totally wrong

People keep saying Lamhe didn't work because it's a bold film. IMO it didn't work because it's a boring film.
I only liked the first part with Pooja a little bit-her Rajasthani songs and outfits were to die for but otherwise the script is very weak and rubbish.
The second part just puts you to sleep.
Yeah I get the pangs of love and all...no big deal...but films in those days worked on repeat value and this film can hardly be watched even once in one go because it's so dull.

Watched the film recently and absolutely loved it
Especially the first part with Pallavi and Viren , Sri Devi so breath takingly beautiful and Anil's character so adorable.
The story was good too but the 2nd half was a bit slow but overall the movie the story and the direction was good
And I think the film did work but overseas it was one of the higjehi grosser there

this is also true... In order to make his love seem passionate, they made his second love incest 😆
