She ensured that they start working only after being an adult and that is what is happening now. She is starting with Dhadak at 20. I also remember reading an interview of Sri where she spoke about the reason why she dresses up so much at this age and that's because she couldn't do this during her childhood and that's why she is enjoying doing it now. She also took a break when she was was already at her peak to raise her children properly. I think she wanted to be a better parent and probably give her children what she didn't get as a child-a proper childhood. And that's the silver lining in the dark cloud.

She said that? But she was dressing up right from her childhood

Didn't she dress up all her life, more than most people? Both onscreen and offscreen

She started much early and continued up until her untimely death

One would think she would be tired of it after five decades and would slow down but no, it increased as she got older... Maybe she never wanted to lose that star image or the camera stop clicking her

And she was not at her peak when she quit movies, her movies were flopping (except for Judaai) and her career was in downward swing (was for a while after Madhuri became No.1)

Jaaved Jafferi & Ram Gopal Verma should just shut up. If they've nothing positive or an experience to share then just keep quiet. The family requested many times to only share experiences but these people just want RTs so churning out sob stories. At least respect her if you like her so much.

When I said education wouldn't have helped her talent, I didn't mean basic schooling or the three Rs! I meant higher education or acting school esp acting school

She said she did try both school and acting for a while but sooner became busy and had to chose one

And if her parents had chosen the regular route instead of acting, sending to college and marrying her off, that would've been fine too...

Maybe she had a horrible childhood, abusive mother, suffered all kinds of abuse esp sexual and all thosee yrs she put on act (that would make her best and consistent actress offscreen)

Or may be not... She just died and people are saying these things like 100% facts and they're 100% certain they're right and others are wrong

I thought you meant the three Rs that is why I reacted that harshly. Her lack of basic education is something she struggled with because it did handicap her when it came to taking care of her affairs.

@Red Not really. This has been discussed on this board way before she died. Once there was a discussion on teen debuts in BW and people were discussing the South as well, Sridevi was one of them discussed. The misogyny in the South has been discussed many times, I think Sri was one of the people discussed then too.

Parents of South stars has been discussed. Rekha's father comes up often, Gemini Ganesan as a horrible example of how a parent can affect a life. Just because you have not been part of these discussions or it is new to you does not mean RGV or Javed Jaffery are wrong.

The South is still a hot bed of misogyny, it has been discussed time and time again on this board.

Respect does not mean painting a fake picture of happy life with no problems to me when reality does not state that. It is not sob stories. What she had she earned because of hard work and struggle. She knew 6 languages I know for sure, I think 7 but I am not sure which one. She did not have basic schooling. The scenes from English Vinglish might have been something she identified because she did struggle with Hindi and English.

She had a hard life which she overcame with success in multiple industries. She was a strong and brave woman and her real life is far more interesting than any Chandini or Naagin or Lamhe can ever be and to say she somehow had it easy is not true neither does it give credit to her for rising above it.

^^
And in addition to me, it is disrespectful to try and paint a rosy picture and refuse to acknowledge the tribulations. Life deserves to be viewed as a whole - the good and the bad, the pretty and the ugly. The worst thing you can do to a human is slice and dice their life into parts that are palatable and parts buried in the dark.

Feel Bollywood ruined her way more than South ever did.
South does have misogyny but that whole angle about her playing a mom to Rajnikanth, KB is known for his women centric roles even back in the days.. Why do some write it as if its a bad thing. Girls still do debut really early and play roles far older than themselves and with older costars. Example Lakhmi Menon. She is Jahnvi's age but debuted at 14. And with whatever interviews i saw, it seems like it was her mom's dream.

It also depends on how you handle that pressure and deal with people. Sridevi had a huge ambition if not, succeeding in Bollywood is no rare feat. And i wish people like J and R stop about these so called sob stories.

Did i ever say her childhood was normal?

Im saying that Sridevi loved performing. And it came naturally to her. Tapping into her talent and nurturing it was a good move but i agree that she should have been out playing with kids her age too. There should have been a balance but she got famous way too fast.

And its a sob story for me cos her life is to be celebrated. Not pitied upon.

She wanted to live a dignified life without sharing these experiences. Then so let it be.

Heard RGV is planning a Sridevi biopic

That explains it..

So he's building a narrative for his movie, doing PR, started it right after the day she died 😕
