War 2 Vs Coolie box-office bloodbath? Rajinikanth starrer a confirmed Rs 1000-crore bonanza reveals co-star

This Independence Day, it is War 2 Vs Coolie at the box office. Rajinikanth’s Coolie is the biggest movie from the South in 2025. The Lokesh Kanagaraj movie has a star-studded cast of Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir and Baahubali’s Kattapa, Sathyaraj. After almost 40 years, Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth are coming together for Coolie. He is one of the most famous actors of the Tamil film industry, and has worked in other industries too. Sathyaraj became famous all over the world with the Baahubali movies that grossed Rs 2,450 crores worldwide. The veteran actor is confident that he is headed for his second Rs 1,000-crore grosser with Coolie.

A big event was held on August 2 for audio launch of Coolie. Sathyaraj said it would be the first movie from Tamil cinema to make Rs 1,000 crores at the box office. The two had acted in the 1986 movie Mr. Bharath. Even though Sathyaraj is younger than Rajinikanth, he played his father in Mr. Bharath which was a remake of Trishul. In the past, Sathyaraj was even offered work in Sivaji and Enthiran. It seems makers wanted him to play the role essayed by Danny Denzongpa in Enthiran but he did not like the same. He said he rejected both the films as he did not find the roles interesting or challenging enough.

Coolie has sold close to 20K tickets in the UK so far. It is trailing behind Leo, which was Thalapathy Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s movie. In the North America market, Coolie has already made USD 1.25 million. Rajinikanth’s Jailer also did exceptional business overseas. Till date, Tamil cinema has not had a Rs 1,000 crore movie. Hindi film industry has successes like Jawan and Pathaan. The Telugu film industry did it before with Baahubali 2 and later with Pushpa 2.
