Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn never fails to impress us with his powerful acting and versatility. May it be a comic role, an action role or a serious role, the Singham of Bollywood knows how to give a path-breaking performance. His recent film Raid, which is based on true events which occurred in Uttar Pradesh, has been performing exceptionally well at the Box Office and has shown tremendous growth on the third day. The film, which also features Ileana D'Cruz and Saurabh Shukla in key roles, has earned a massive amount of Rs 41.01 crore in just three days of its release.

The film which opened to Rs 10.04 crore earned Rs 17.11 crore on Sunday and became one of the highest weekend openers of this year. Movie critic and biz analyst Taran Adarsh on Monday took to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the third-day collections of the crime-thriller and tweeted, "#Raid gets a THUMBS UP from audiences... Witnesses SOLID GROWTH on Sat + Sun... Strong word of mouth helps multiply numbers, after a mediocre start on Fri morning... Emerges SECOND HIGHEST WEEKEND of 2018... Fri 10.04 cr, Sat 13.86 cr, Sun 17.11 cr. Total: 41.01 cr. India biz.

Raid has been inspired the real-life Income Tax raids which were held by Indian Revenue Services back in the '80s and 90's. The film released on March 16 and has been directed by realistic filmmaker Raj Kumar Gupta. The film also stars Amit Sial and Sheeba Chaddha in prominent roles. In the Raj Kumar Gupta film, Ajay Devgn plays IT officer Amay Patnaik.

However, with the numbers turning out to be better, there is further solid footing that the film has gained.

Raid Box Office: It is turning out to be a good season at the Box Office as films are doing fair to good business one week after another. If Hate Story IV had a fair opening weekend, Raid has now done a lot better. This was expected too given the kind of credentials that the film boasts of. Ajay Devgn has traditionally enjoyed steady market for himself and now just a few months after Golmaal Again, he is keeping a good score with this one as well.

This can be pretty much seen from the fact that the first three day collections of the Raj Kumar Gupta directed film stand at 41.01 crores. This is pretty much over and above the expectations since before the release it had seemed that a 35 crore opening weekend would be a right start for a realistic drama like Raid. However, with the numbers turning out to be better, there is further solid footing that the film has gained.

Meanwhile, for director Raj Kumar Gupta too the success of this film has proven to be a shot in the arm. Lifetime collections of his most appreciated film No One Killed Jessica was 29 crore whereas Ghanchakkar which released after that had brought in 34 crore.

Now these numbers have been surpassed by Raid in less than a weekend which is a reason for the filmmaker to celebrate. Of course stakes were much higher for the film since it is an Ajay Devgn starrer and hence at least double of the weekend is expected as a lifetime score. That shouldn't be a matter of concern though as Raid is well marching towards that total.

The film has crossed Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety which had collected 26.57 crores at the box office.
