What a sectarianism filled article? Why does NYT always write on hindu-muslim enmity? As if there is a internal war going on here. These wanna be hate filled journos write these articles in night clubs or on sea side beach where they are on a high that they dont even know that the real picture and facts about the movie. The movie protest was for some scenes between Padmavati and Khilji because it was hurting their sentiments and besides muslim groups and organisations also protested against Padmavat release. Who is the author to judge some community's sentiment whose history they are unaware of?
Why this manifested hatred towards India and Hindus in particular? Importantly why is NYT focusing on such inane movie rather than on far more important issues in US and the world? Why not the FBI vs Trump?

Seriously? Can't these bigots see anything beyond religion?😵
Criticizing a movie is one thing, but trying to pit two religions against one another through a movie is another and totally a low blow! 🤢

Who cares about some white people's rotten opinion
When 99.999% of the audience love the film, who even care about critics opinions ..

White people always do this..
In 1947 , British while leaving India , started the permanent war between India Pakistan.

They always do this divide and conquer..

What shit of an article..
CLearly the author feels as if him/her is jeaulous or India's rich culture and grandeur and they cannot digest it,

When i posted the review i didnt know it would trigger so many people. 🤣 And i wasn't even thinking about the religious angle of the article i wanted to point out that foreign media is trashing the movie. There is so much internalized hatred and bias that people just feel they need to speak out of guilt, and unsurprisingly its the usual bunch.

I hope you guys were in a safe space with plenty of emotional support when you were reading Anupama and Raeev's reviews.

Errr, the NY Times is one of the most respected papers in the world. They reviewed Padmavati just like they review most movies. This particular reviewer always reviews BW films and most of the time she praises them so it's hilarious to see all this "oh white people are jealous" reactions. 😆

She didn't like it. Her choice. Reviews are just opinions.

I think people are afraid that posting a NYT article on a forum would trigger some sort of communal tension. 🤣

If it was just a review there wouldn't have been any problem...Hers is not the first review criticizing the movie! But hers seems like an agenda driven review- trying to pit two religions against each other...What more- she even gets into the depths of the casts...And on the top of it, she carelessly says 'the hindus have a problem with the movie'...What nonsense is that?

Well that's how the world sees it. The Rajputs created a spectacle and made India look ridiculous and intolerant because of their fears of how they were portrayed when it was really Muslims who were demonized. The Hindu- nationalist BJP government supported the Karni Sena so it became much more of a Hindu issue instead of remaining just a Rajput thing. A reviewer pointing out that farce is expected.

SLB can make whatever movie he wants and I don't even think it's wrong to demonize a brutal invader but of course it's not something that will go ignored. This is a real newspaper, not drooling paid lackeys like Bollywood Hungama and Taran Adarsh.

Because of how well his controversy strategy has worked, I expect Bhansali to do this same crap over and over now with new movies, instigating and creating problems and deliberately fanning the flames to stay in the news forever.
