like Alauddin Khilji in Padmavat, Ranveer
Singh is opting for something light and
fresh in his next projects. The first look of
his collaboration with Rohit Shetty and
Karan Johar, Simmba has become the talk of
the town. Playing his zany self but now as a
cop, Ranveer Singh looks ready to take the
audience for a laugh ride. Not to anyone's
surprise, Simmba was compared to the two
blockbuster cop films, Dabangg and
Singham. Director Rohit Shetty addressed
the matter, "When we were making
Singham, a lot of people asked if we were
trying to make a Dabangg kind of a film',
but the film has its own identity. If the look
and part is serious then it's Singham and if
it's entertaining then its Dabangg. But our
cop is not a Chulbul Pandey kind of a
character."
Looking at the poster, Ranveer Singh looks
like the right choice. Rohit Shetty agrees,
"The script is best suited for Ranveer. It is
an out-and-out action masala entertainer, a
kind that he hasn't attempted before. We
will include amazing action sequences, and
given the kind of energy and enthusiasm
that Ranveer has, I'm sure he'll do justice to
the part."
To this, Ranveer said, "I have admired Rohit
sir's work for a very long time now. We also
have Karan Johar as the producer in this
film. It's a genre or brand of cinema that I
thoroughly love. Of course, socially, I
interact with people who are the multiplex
audience', but my heart is massy' and that's
actually what I get a huge kick out of."
