The Virushka rant you've been waiting for :)

I surface occasionally here on the Bolly forum mostly for inane blind items about "celebs" no one gives two f**ks about :) but with all the social media Virushka overload, I needed an outlet for a rant that had been building up for a while. This is just one person's super-opinionated chai pe charcha on the Virushka tamasha.
When I saw the first set of pics of the "classy", tasteful, elegant, dull as dishwater bina namak mirchi ki sabzi jaisi shaadi, I knew this could only be the concoction of pretentious bimbo Anushka. For all his on-field swagger, Virat's true inner beta persona has emerged to chop his balls, saran-wrap them and hand them over to Anushka for safe-keeping. We are being told that the poor boy who would have been happiest staggering to "tin peg balliye" is a lover of Rumi and was keen to hand a copy of Rumi's poetry to his wedding guests. Lolwa to the maxwa 🤣

Most of my sympathies are reserved for poor Saroj Kohli. She did make a feeble attempt to gather the women around and do a ladies sangeet, but her "kaala shah kaala" felt so dissonant with the gorgeous but utterly incongruent Tuscan setting. I guess - dil aaya gold-digger pe to mummy kya cheez hai.

Any naive belief that this wedding was anything except a massive PR campaign mounted by the crafty Ms. Sharma evaporated on seeing her "OMG - I totally didn't mean to strategically display my massive diamond ring for max view" honeymoon pic. She's milking this for all it's worth and it works because cricket and Bollywood is the most potent combination in India.

Now why is Viraf playing along? I mean the cute explanation is that he's besotted and in love but I'm cynical and I have another idea. Viraf grew up lower middle-class and Anushka is his unattainable posh ice-princess. She is a symbolic trophy of all that he's worked so hard to attain - the pretty cherry on his cake. He still has his deep-rooted middle-class insecurities and seems to have some mistaken belief that Anushka is expanding his horizons and making him sophisticated and worldly.

It's almost like he doesn't even realize or believe he can do better :).

It's super tacky to start speculating on the durability of a marriage almost as soon as it has begun, but hey I enjoy Govinda films and like dancing to Babydoll main sone ki so I'm nothing if not tacky. Anushka's too much of an alpha to take a backseat in this marriage in the way every actress who's ever married a cricket player does. She'd be bored out of her wits playing a WAG and would want out soon. Besides she really doesn't seem to like Virat much - he's a strategic choice for her.

Virat probably thinks he's keeping her happy with all that he's offering her with his success and loyalty. But he just might develop some insight and realize that he brings a lot more to the relationship than she does (and not just materially).

All right - bring out the sticks and stones now - we've got an entire weekend to entertain ourselves here 😆

Crying before his wedding night convinced me of that.
But I disagree. The marriage will last. Neither can do better than they have. Get ready for the next ten years. Two kids later like Abhi Ash the charm will finally wear off for the media and public.

I think Virat can do better. He is a truly self made man. He may be arrogant but an international star.

That might well be the case - but I honestly do believe that Anushka thinks she can definitely do better and is doing a huge favour to Kohli by marrying him. And she's tenacious and ambitious and certainly not the kind to just pop out two kids and fade away.

You know the funny thing is loud Anushka is not even that classy nor does she possess some elite pedigree. Poor Mrs. Saroj Kohli indeed.

And Virat's too middle class to even figure that out! That's the irony of it all. And thanks to this his poor family got stuck in a snoozefest of a shaadi in Italy - what a waste of piles of cash.

But I doubt it is just with Virat. She thinks she is superior to everyone and now we have Virat to thank for multiplying her arrogance.😆

As long as she keeps Virat happy, nothing anyone says or does will matter. I have accepted her as a permanent part of his life and a fixture in future games. I see this relationship crashing and burning only if Virat fades into oblivion, but that is impossible and with the wealth he has already amassed even an ambitious golddigger should be satisfied.

P.S. Did Bunty Sajdeh attend the wedding? Makes me wonder about that Anushka being pissed at Buntywala blind.

She's a smart cookie and has figured his insecurities out - she's playing this game very well and would be a fixture till she herself gets bored and bolts - I don't see him leaving her anytime soon.

What did Bunty Sajdeh do to piss her off? Warn Virat about her? It would be hard to cut Bunty out with all of his sports management connections - besides his sister is married to Rohit Sharma.
