It's not going to happen in India for another 100 years. If people were so scared to expose Weinstein even in America, who would be brave enough to do it in India?

No matter what anyone says, India is still a very conservative and misogynist country. I remember recently that TVF guy got exposed and even on this forum itself, people were supporting him and coming up with men's rights arguments and slandering the woman. There will be cries of "proof proof proof!!" even though in these situations, it is hard to obtain proof. If learned, educated people online were behaving that way, imagine the average people in small towns and villages and all those people who spend all their time watching saas bahu regressive serials.

Anyone that dares to take on a big shot would get called a liar, s**t, asked questions like why she was in his hotel room in the first place, what kind of upbringing and morals she had, look at all her previous relationships, talks crap if she did kissing and item songs, etc.

I am really more concerned about the paedos because the women had the choice to say no. Corey Feldman mentioned it. Old HW movies starring Shirley Temple are vile.
Are there such in BW?

I know feminists will kill me for saying this but women must share blame partially (if not equally) for such stuff going on.

Women in such men's families are okay with this stuff. Never stop them. Women who line up at these men's rooms, homes, farm houses are also to blame.

That's why rich and powerful always brag about how they are never short of girls and they have girls falling at their feet.

Shekhar Gupta, veteran journalist recently wrote how he saw so many young girls at Dev Anand's house hoping to get cast in his movie OPPOSITE him even when he was 80!

Now when everyone knew he was so old and his movies no longer worked then why did those girls go to him?

Poverty is no excuse. Many more poor. Do they all sleep with men to somehow get work?!

Forget talentless girls even talented ones don't hesitate to please right people if need be. Sridevi, Rekha, Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi etc cases are known to all.

Of course men are to blame for misusing their power, privilege and going after favours, connections instead of talent and craft of the artiste. Other men are to blame for knowing about it but keeping silent about it.

But women who willingly and silently tolerate this and often don't come out with truth all lives (don't write tell all accounts even after retirement) are to blame for feeding this culture too.

Media, PR, fans, audience being okay with such stuff and such stuff not denting a person's stature, work in any way also promotes this culture.

Male stars and aspiring male actors also tolerating casting couch, sexual harassment is making it even more rampant and worse.

What scandal was that? I can't recall

What's wrong in asking proof? So a guy or a gal should be punished without proof?
If a woman is accused of sexual assault she should not be punished without proof.

Yes, it is difficult to obtain proof in sexual assault situations. How do they do it in the West?

Bold - Tell me about it...

What's more, their selective moral outrage, it's appalling

I've discovered there's not much difference between educated and not so educated folks, except for the right to look down on their nose

We dont know what the circumstances are...what if you have to earn money for your family and glamour industry is your only option..for someone to exploit their power over them and you having to comply because there would be no future for you- I dont know how easy it will be to say no and hold onto your moral outrage at that point...
Its the same thing as DV- victims stay with abusers for years on an end..and if it takes someone like Aish 3 years to stand up and say "enough"..what happens to your average jane doe?

He placed several pages of ads in popular glossies about her saying all the top BW directors have booked her which was not true, just a publicity stunt to further her career and make her relevant...

Why would he do that?

I don't know if they affair or not but I just heard on this forum that Madhuri had to go through a lot to make big in BW and Subhash Ghai had lot of contribution on her career, based on his record and rumors with exploiting heroines, it looks like he didn't spare any heroines that he worked with, so it's obvious that Madhuri also had to sleep with him to get roles on his movies but casting couch is really not consider an affair because casting couch is like doing a sexual favor to the people that gives them roles on the movies which helps them to establish their career.

Women can be sexist & misogynistic. We all grow up in the same environment. Both men & women have to consciously learn to undo all the social conditioning.

I am ok if two people decide to make a deal or have a sexual relationship for work or fun or whatever. Consensual sex is ok. But problem is when you force someone or coerce someone or do something inappropriate without consent. Also, asking for sexual favors in the guise of a professional meeting is a trap & wrong.

Moral complicity of women is a fine line to walk on. These powerful men effectively target young & vulnerable girls. For instance, Harvey's most targets were 20 something year old newbies & most of them were foreigners. The pressure to succeed was immense. When those men speak of other big actresses who also had to compromise, it's such a gross manipulation of their psyche.
Asia Argento's statement was very telling to me. She was attacked first without any consent when she was 21 and later when she succumbed, the guilt and shame that ensued, kept her from revealing. She was overpowered & just didn't have the courage anymore. That's how these mighty people work, they break your moral , shred your integrity and mentally enslave you!

Women who dare to speak up, are not heeded by higher authority. The Italian model who had Harvey on tape, admitting to harassment, was clearly denied & told that's not evidence enough. And later she didn't only have to kiss her career goodbye, but was smeared by tabloids and her character was questioned! So they try but fail.

And these women are easily replaceable. Look at BW, for instance. If one actress declines to pander, she's easily replaced because women are yet not an integral part anyway.

On top of that, many men and some women, in an attempt to normalize harassment in workplace, claim that women can't handle work environment as in men dominated environment. Donald Trumo Jr once said and I loosely quote, " Women who complain about workplace harassment are not strong enough & thus don't belong there." Sadly this is how many people think. To prove you're strong & not "whiny", they're often forced to withstand the torture!

That said, when they reach a certain stage, they ought to speak up, especially people like Joile , who I believe is powerful than many men in Hollywood.

That is so sad :( and I agree with the replacement part.. that's why I'm disgusted by the entertainment industries like Bollywood and Hollywood now is cos they find actresses replaceable. Even when a Sridevi has more talent than all the male actors combined, she'd be considered replaceable by a "young" actress. It it just so disgusting and the reason why I'm done with Bollywood too now.

i share your opinion...if a woman says no n move ahead and next and next i believe this type of institution won't survive but when they agree to all this then they are part of it,they accept it.
the day woman n man will say no and stay on their belief then that day will bring lot of sunshine but unfortunately in real life we are so full of greed and temptation that it will never happen
