These are the four major Indian phenotypes. I'll let people look it up, Google is a thing.

^^No I am aware of the inherent positive bias towards fair/light skin in India. I do feel that some people in this thread have the notion that everyone believes white = Pretty since you just said that yourself, I, happened to point out that no, not everyone is doing it solely for that reason. Pointing that out doesn't mean someone is "upset." India, Brazil, Mexico, every country does have those internal biases. It's sad but its present. I am aware. And while I cannot speak for all of the movie-viewing audience of my country, I find Nawaaz & Irrfan & Akshay & ARK very good-looking, RK is far from good-looking & I've robustly stated my opinion on most platforms. I can only speak for myself. Lol. Am out.

People are keen to know where they are from as long it's exotic or white let's not fool ourselves. Look up how it's done in Brazil and you'll have a better understand of things.

Features matter more so why should Nawaz be deemed as someone who can't romance when he's far more handsome than Ranbir who romanced the most beautiful girls of Bwood ? Likewise some people deem Dhanush as not handsome when he is featurewise his problem is that he's too slim imo.

I also realized some months ago Dhanush and Lee Byung-hun have similar looks and features. Both are also extremely skinny. But LBH has always been viewed as a looker in his industry while Dhanush hasn't. This leads me to believe that it's the inherent bias against dark skin and not his frame, because if Dhanush were light skinned but skinny as he is, I believe Indian industry not have any hesitation in terming him handsome, etc.

^^Ehhh he's considered good-looking? He's smart in suits. So is Dhanush. But neither are good-looking IMO. Their wives are good-looking though! Dhanush's more than Lee's, IMO.

Personal taste is one thing. I find him good looking many times, but other times he's too skinny. Also now he's older, more wrinkly and face has flattened a bit due to age.

But his industry, people as a whole, did not ever point to him as an example as not-good-looking actor. Wasn't always termed as non-good looking. But opposite, often termed as good looking, handsome, etc etc.

Compare that with the narrative that has always been present around Dhanush.

And actually, Dhanush is way better looking than his wife, imo.😆 His wife is average while Dhanush is a looker.

^^Funnily, I've met people who do consider Dhanush good-looking though I am well-aware of censure that Dhanush's looks attract. While a lot of people do & would strike him off as good-looking because he's dark, I think there are equal amounts of people in my experience who like him for the personal charm he exhibits & the success he has had. in fact, I think more often than not, nowadays ESP, success influences a lot more things, even look, that we are aware of. Look at how ARK is referred to as slovenly, while SRK is called "casually comfortable". I am not taking away from what you're saying, it's ahsolutely right, but I do feel that the non-aesthetic factors do go into shaping a narrative/story too.

No I've never found Dhanush good-looking. His wife to me is. I wasn't aware of Lee, just Googled him. He's fine. Attractive enough in suits? He does look like Dhanush though. I picked up on that. Both look good in suits. His wife is sooo pretty though. Like Aishwariya. Beauty, eye, beholder & all that. 😆

The look Kapoors (barring Raj Kapoor) carry can be comfortably come across proper Punjabi Khatris in my observation (not talking about Kapoor sisters whose maternal grandmother was a white Brit)..Raj Kapoor kinda look is relatively less than others..
