Yes this forum is divided by many things, but Nationality isn't one of them. We have mix of Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Indians in various fan groups and we don't consider ourselves divided by nationalities.

We all discuss Indian Vs Over seas BO and the intent is to understand audience reactions . This is a discussion forum after all !!

One small fact may help you - we are NRIs, but our parents and family still lives in India and we all respect our country and are connected to India though BW.

There is, if they keep insulting Indians overtly or covertly. This forum wasn't built yesterday. This has been going on for years and now some Indians are giving it back. Simple really. Discuss everything, hype everything, appreciate everything, just stop bringing in Indians' lack of ability to appreciate things, their conventionality and whatever. It's supremely grating as an Indian living in India. I have only very recently seen some people like me giving back to the years of NRI comments on Indian taste on this forum. My boyfriend hates Shah and is always surprised at his films doing well overseas but I haven't seen anyone questioning or assuming tastes of overseas audience here, ever. Also, when non Indians do it...I am sorry but it's just plain sick. Sitting on an Indian forum, crying about an Indian celebrity and questioning Indian taste. You'd be surprised at how much that happens. The whole JJ Pakistan saga was in very bad taste for me, because of our relationship with Pak here in India, but you guys don't really understand this because you don't understand our circumstances. Some of you assume and it's not cool. Plus, the right to be offended. You are connected to people over BW, I am connected to people through my country. Favourite celebrity's criticism makes you guys feel so awful and radical, random pointed criticism by non Indians and NRIs make me feel equally irritated. You don't get me, I don't get you. Not in this, I am sorry. You may feel I overreact but I will keep saying this.

It's funny to see these NRIs in their little la la land here in the forum which is completely different from reality in India. And since this forum mainly consists of NRI's (it atleast was when I was an active member here), they think that their collective opinion is the final verdict when it comes to films and actors while the ground reality is completely different. No wonder Ranbir Kapoor here is a superstar and Varun Dhawan, a nobody. So I guess just enjoy such posts instead of being affected.

Remember the time Kareena said she is now KKK and the whole forum went into a frenzy saying how Kareena will get into trouble now and we brainless, illiterate desis were like 'aisa kya keh diya?' 😆

Not to generalize but yes, this has been going on since forever. I have only very recently seen some Indians being annoyed at the generalizations who are forcibly made to shut up or put up. Ab I don't care if their loyalty is different from mine but I won't stay silent while this keeps happening after every film. It's only after years of generalizations by this forum that people are getting annoyed. But anyway, it's a wasted effort to force this down people's throats on this forum. They will continue saying strange things and then, will be mad at us foolish Indians being offended. Anyway. I guess I will have to agree to disagree with this forum on this.

Not an Indian. I also live abroad but I agree with you. This needed to be said and you put it brilliantly. Can't blame the audience for every failure of your favorite. If you can't appeal to either critics or the audience, then something is wrong with your product. Plain and simple.

@glace blue-Yup perfectly okay for me. I anyways don't care about the condescending remarks of the NRI members here that's why suggested the TM to laugh it off. Overseas collections are anyways not included while declaring a film as hit or flop so when even box office doesn't care about the NRI audience, why should I. Don't care if they find it generalization or degrading.

It's just movies! Who cares if someone says they don't like your taste or vice versa? How is that about patriotism? Sorry, this is just jingoism where every random thing has to be defended for Indian pride.

As an American, I will say the average American has horrible taste in movies with all those crappy superhero movies and reboots and the most trashy action movies. They are just as bad as BW masala movies but those are also the ones that are big at the box office in the US too.

The only difference is that there seems to be enough film culture that people don't expect a small studio drama starring Brad Pitt to become a huge hit and take on Spider Man. It isn't used as a way to constantly diss actors and mock and make fun of flops nor are weird comparisons made between dissimilar movies.

I feel like it's so hard in BW for actors to try anything even slightly out of the ordinary because if it doesn't work, there is a huge amount of mocking and obituaries written about his career. It's not shocking that nobody wants to try anything different because they are never given room to grow.

@Bold - I don't know what are your "circumstances" and why do you think that we should understand your circumstances ? 😕

@Red - I come from a Defense family , from both my parents and In laws side !! So don't ever compare your keyboard love with India with the count of Martyrs in my family. As we speak, 2 of my young nephews are in Kashmir and NE - high risk areas .

This is BW forum, so I will speak only about my India connection via BW and not via anything else.
