Agastya Nanda’s upcoming film Ikkis has been postponed just days before its scheduled theatrical release, with makers opting to avoid a crowded Christmas box office window.
The film, which was earlier set to release on December 25, will now hit theatres on January 1, 2026. Ikkis marks the first theatrical outing for Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda after his debut in Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix film The Archies. The decision to delay the release is being seen as a strategic move rather than a creative one.
Ikkis is based on the real life story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee. The film traces his bravery and sacrifice during the 1971 Indo Pakistan war. Given its subject, the makers appear keen to give the film a clear release window and avoid distractions at the ticket counters.

Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is slated for a Christmas release, making December 25 a packed date. Trade sources suggest the overlap was a key reason behind the shift.
Adding to the pressure is the strong performance of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. The action drama released on December 5 and continues to draw audiences nationwide. The film has crossed the Rs 400 crore mark within ten days of release and shows little sign of slowing down. With screens already occupied and audience attention divided, the makers of Ikkis reportedly chose to step back.
Agastya Nanda made his acting debut in 2023 with The Archies, which premiered on Netflix. He played the character of Archie Andrews in the coming of age musical. The film also featured Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Aditi Dot Saigal and Yuvraj Menda. Jaideep Ahlawat appeared in a key role, while Simar Bhatia made her debut.
Ikkis also holds emotional weight due to Dharmendra’s involvement. The veteran actor portrays an older Arun Khetarpal in the film. This performance marks his final on screen appearance following his death on November 24 at his Mumbai residence. With its revised release date, all eyes are now on how Ikkis performs in the new year window.
