Finally Someone said it!!! I never got hype about this guy.

One thing I've observed on Twitter is that film intellectuals and critics always praise him so much that sometimes I questioned myself that am I looking at wrong trailer/movie.

He is like Male Kristen Stewart of Bollywood.

Anyways glad HuffPo posted this much needed article exposing "flawless" starkid

Varun doesn't have such PR as those 2 neither, industry still credits his BO success as he has gained so far.

Varun being overhyped???

So far all his films have done well. Not a single below average or flop film. 100% success ratio. These are facts. You still don't see tabloids having him as the poster boy. He is slowly building his fan base and progressing with each release. I mean come on. He hasn't had single grand film like Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Barfi, Rockstar, Befikre, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil etc... where you get 'he has arrived' tag for having a big release with a well known director who themselves belong A grade.

Anyway say whatever you want. Varun has worked with various production houses and not just backed up by one. Don't think David or Kjo can score him a Sriram or Shoojit film. People easily take all credit away from him. But let it. Varun will let his work do all the talking now.

Varun is actually underrated. This kind of success was earlier unheard of. 8 consecutive success since debut. Have you even heard something like this before? He doesn't get much of media attention.

I especially felt this for Raajneeti. The character was detached and aloof. That's Ranbir Kapoor anyway so I didn't see what was amazing about his acting there. Plus all those tense brooding shots just didn't convey anything to me.

To be honest before coming to IF I didn't even know he was this much popular or considered star. He was a B grade bollywood actor to me whose movie generally flops..
He is popular and has fans only in IF

And now we need to admit one more thing.
That is JJ is very orinary movie quality wise.
This type is not tried in Bollywood that's correct and so should be applauded for taking risk.

But quality wise it was a mess. Only beautiful scenes and cinenatography doesn't make a movie good.

If it was a Hollywood movie I would have said a very bad movie. And wud have said they tried the same old same old and failed.

Some of it are very valid points
But the entertainment industry as a whole are becoming more nepotism and money centric
Most established stars in hw or UK or europe comes from the clubs ie contact knowing someone
The whole process of getting a substantial role and sustaining till then has turned it into the most closed off industry

Yes bw is a degree more because corruption and nepotism are rampant in India in general.

And bw has been a family business right from the beginning
It is only recently the corporates have gained a entry . Even then it has been so deeply etched corporates also sink money for nepotism products and hardly hold auditions. Because without the insiders they cannot market the movies.

Its just that Ranbir is currently the spectacular failure who can be touched. Hence he is targetted.

To be fair, no one gets foothold in BW without connection. NSD graduates spend years toiling in small roles
Tv theatre before they are lucky enough to have a breakthrough

Yup kept getting movies from his debut in 2000 till 2010. It was only after back to back flops of KHJJS, Game and DMD within six months which finally put an end to his solo hero career. By then he had done 30 odd films already. I guess his solo career ending had more to do with the fact that by then several other starkids were debuting/debuted so the industry had options among other starkids.
