Lololol. Blame game started even before the movie released 😆 If RK knew about Basu already from Barfi, why did he agree to work with him this time ? And as a producer he could brought the discussion on the table of shelving it, didnt do that either.

His producergiri looks much forced and he knows what a flop he has become since last 4 yrs hence he 'had' to turn producer this time. Definitely he didnt enjoy that. Better he limits himself to truly 'art' movies with small budgets where he can give some hits like Irfan or Nawaaz and also charge MUCH less or profit sharing basis like most of the other stars.

Also PV is releasing in the fixed date itself despite the attacks on set which is a great thing.

Also SLB finished BM in 1 year its a film which wouldve taken 2 years but he did well, PC was sick and Ranveer also got injured in between but SLB and team planned well and worked their way around it and released the film on the said date. SLB is a task master and perfectionist and he is instinctive but that is not about the story line its only about the execution of the stuff and the tonality and the setting.

I am sure, PV's budget will be the topic of discussion, during its release. Only relief would be, it is a mainstream movie (unlike JJ which is experimental). So it's reach would be greater. But still, it has to cross a mountain to get profit and get a hit tag. (One cannot lean back on the success of BM. Burfi and JJ are from the same maker).

On the positive side of PV, no actor has expressed displeasure on the product. (With JJ, it has been present throughout last year). Let's see.
I will stop at it, as this is not the thread on SLB, instead Basu. Sorry.

Another big failure after BV. Pretty obvious now that Ranbir and co don't think twice about burning through money even if the costs are unrealistic to recover. If I was a filmmaker, I would be very wary of adding RK to my team, and wouldn't do so until I knew well enough that I could actually afford the losses.

Ranbir should stick to acting in front of the camera, and leave the behind-the-scenes work to the professionals

I think we all knew about Basu's style. He's a spontaneous director, who prefers to improvise. There are plenty of directors who prefer improvisation over concrete planning. I wouldn't blame Basu here. Wong Kar Wai (arguably the best filmmaker in the world today), Derek Cianfrance, Lars von Trier, Mike Leigh, etc. all prefer to improvise than start shooting with concrete setups. It's not bad per se; it's just that Bollywood doesn't understand and appreciate art cinema, or experimental cinema. Even the so called champions of good cinema are more awed by European Cinema than trying to understand cinema as an art in an Indian context.

Agreed. Where Wong Kar Wai's style is subtle, Basu is frilly. Not sure BW is ready for Wong Kar Wai type of cognitive genius.

Ranbir is so ungrateful, no other director could even visualise a movie like JJ!

If you look back at Rk's career..

who would want to work with him again?maybe Kjo? MAYBE..

I feel so so sorry for Ayan-he is so talented.

He must be cutting Dragon's budget with every release of RK-a budget of more than 50 crs will be impossible for Kjo to recover.

And Ayan could get any superstar or producer to work with him.

But he is stuck with the manchild.

Ayan is stuck..kjo is stuck..alia baby is stuck

If the movie works, take credit, if it doesn't, blame the director. Yeh achcha hain. Why does he take so much money when all his films flop? Is he going to compensate distributors?
