MOM is getting lots of coverage and appreciation in Pak too and it was released in a big way with HUM being the distributor n official PR. For once I suppose having Pak actors worked in favour of the movie, especially since d so-called ban.
Anyways happy MOM is doing well and seems everyone gave a stellar performance.⭐️

Loved the movie so much that I went to watch again with whole bunch of funny friends 😆
The theater was full thank godness we were early so we got Seats in the middle.
My friends loved it they were praising a lot & heard people liking it.
Suprise to see this kind much rush because only saw in Khan movies Time. Seems like more than actor now people go watch for the movie itself.

I'm back from an evening show in the west coast. The opening day 7 PM show was HOUSEFULL ⭐️

MOM is an engaging watch really uplifted by the acting ensemble. The first half was better than the second (which wasn't boring...just felt the script writers could have been a bit more realistic).

The cinematography and background score is top notch. They elevated key scenes in the movie altogether to a different level. Special mention for the assault sequence that was executed sensitively with that harrowing score leaving a lot to the viewers imagination and hence garnering sympathy.

Sajal is a great find and she was a pro in all her scenes. I wish to see her more in our films someday. Adnan played his role well even though it wasn't meaty. Nawaz and Akshaye both were great support. The former was the comic element and he provided some good one liners. His transformation for the role was superb. And yes, we do need more AKSHAYE in our movies.

However, the film belongs to SRIDEVI who is practically in every frame. She does an amazing job as Devki. Too many closeup shots where you get to see what a consummate actor she is. Her breakdown scenes are incredible. She conveys so much with a slight twitch...or just tears in her eyes. The look here and there. This is a towering performance from her 👏and certainly something that will give a good competition to the other actresses at the upcoming NA. Candidly, from all the female performances I've seen so far... Swara (Anarkali of Aaraah) and Sridevi are great submissions for NA. ⭐️

Let's see what Kangana and Deepika have in store with their respective performances later this year.

This film was slated to release in late 2016 but got pushed due to Pak controversy. Had it released then, it would have come prior to Kaabil and Maatr which had the rape avenge theme. Nevertheless, the treatment is completely different and kudos to the director for focusing on minimalism and aesthetics. It's a decent directorial debut. A bit more creative writing and trimming 10-15 mins would have made it a classic.

Nawaz and Sridevi carried this movie Sridevi is such a powerhouse actress she made it look very convincing even though such movies have been done so many times she and Nawaz were the reasons. Nawaz' role was different and he was funny mein singer bana chahtha tha meri maa bhi singer bana chahti thi. godo thing about this movie is the pace it doesn't drag or waste any time establishing people its fair quick paced
His murder was done very well so was the rape scene without showing anything but just the van moving birds eye view and the music was enough to show. Sajal first time i've seen her she was good in her role her anger with her stepmom looked real only thing is when the dudes got her in the van it didnt need 3 people to put her in she is so light and small even if she was resisting. All 4 guys who raped did their role well especially the bald dude the final one. Akshaye was really good in his beginning scenes when he them and beats the rapists before they are let off and at the end. At the end it's Sridevi's movie and she carries it along with Nawaz despite some loopholes.

Mom is a good movie, elevated by brilliant performances, particularly from Sridevi. She is consistently brilliant throughout the movie, never losing the grip of her character. What a superstar this legend is.

Reading the reviews everybody will have got the gist of the storyline, so I will focus on the performances and some standout scenes instead, which make this film.

It's fair to say all the actors play their parts really well, from Sridevi, Nawaz, Sejal, Adnan, Akshaye, to the perpetrators, all are convincing in their roles. Apart form Sridevi, I was really impressed by Sejal and Nawaz the most. Sejal is brilliant in her debut film. And every scene Nawaz had with Sridevi was gold.

But its Sridevi who takes the cake!

The biggest compliment you can give her, you FEEL every single emotion she portrays onscreen. Helplessness, frustration, hatred, distress, you name it, nobody does it better than her. You definitely root for her, even though the execution of how she seeks revenge could have been better.

I love actors who use their eyes to emote, and boy does Sridevi use her eyes! Easily the most expressive eyes in the business!!

Some scenes that stood out, without giving to much details to avoid spoilers:

The family dinner scene, where Sridevi and her husband query about how far party venue is to the daughter. Sridevi says it's really far, and one point she slowly touches her heart. You feel her unease, almost her foreshadowing the horrific incident. The subtlety in Sridevi's acting here is top notch.

Sridevi's breakdown's in the hospital, first when she see's her daughter the first time after the attack, then when the hospital staff inform her of the abuse and thirdly when she incoherently tries to tell her husband to return because they need him. Each breakdown was stunning, so effin real that you cry with her, you feel her frustration and later her hatred towards the perpetrators. Some of the best emotional scenes ever. There was pin drop silence during these scenes in the cinema.

What really adds to plausibility of these scenes, Sridevi really just goes all out with her emotions, in some scenes you can even see her nasal mucus, which only adds to the realistic factor. If Hollywood has Viola Davies, we have Sridevi!!!!

All Nawaz and Sridevi scenes, just amazing. Esp when Nawaz first time meets Sri, in the police station. He is so creepy there!

The last scene. Firstly when Sri pulls the trigger as soon as she hears her daughter call her 'Mom' and then their reunion. Sri's expressions and body language were excellent.

AR Rahman music is a plus, esp the amazing background score. I LOVED Oye Sona Tere Liye- easily the best track of the album.

Overall, a good film with some good all round performances from all the cast, along with an exceptional performance from the legendary Sridevi.

Not exaggerating when i say this not even a little bit but Sridevi for me is the finest actress the country has produced for this performance alone. It was THAT good those nuances in her expressions are as real as real is
