I think because Tubelight was an art film and it is not masala or any South Indian remake like most Sallu's previous movies.

Hmmm not sure what the point of this post was? Am I supposed to feel embarassed that I found the film emotional?? The premise of the film was of a naive mentally challenged man longingly waiting for his brother to comeback from a brutal war, is that not heart wrenching? I don't know about anyone else but the film had me in tears for the most part and no, it had nothing to do with regret. It was money well spent and I cherish the experience.

And Kick was the gutwrenching story of a man who has to resort to crime to pay for the treatment of a young girl with cancer 😭

I just find it funny that your personal opinion dictates whether the film is piece of art or dooshit and how audience should appro ach the films 😆

^ I just made the most obvious conclusion that can be drawn after seeing the box office failure of this film. It proved that Salman's target audience still wants to see him in crap with C grade level humour, doing dishoom dishoom and dancing around with women who look like men AKA Kareena, Jacquelyn, Nargis. There is no way any negative critique of Salman's acting has ever stopped his fans from pouring into the theatres on an Eid release. This film was devoid of senseless fight scenes, cringeworthy humour, a forced romantic angle and was heavy on drama /emotion hence rejected.

A niche, off-beat and an arthouse movie all rolled into one, too complex and mature for the audeince.

You are still doing the same thing 😆

If you really want to make a generalized 'obvious' conclusion it will be that the film had nothing to offer to audience looking for light entertainment and Salman's acting, the C-grade script, one dimensional characters and a very blatant attempt at emotional manipulation didn't work for the multiplex audience who quite readily accepted Dangal 😛

But feel free to continue blaming the audience based on your taste
