If the father had boys instead of girls he would have done the same.

It's not against feminism but against human rights.

It IS about empowering women..we have to keep in mind that it's not a story of some high class society but of a rural area going to the school and getting primary education is a big deal for girls.

I agree with Chinese.

We Indians tend to praise these pseudo actors to skies for their mediocre movies but I am glad Chinese are showing them their real aukat.

They seem truly intelligent people.

What was the alternative for these girls ? Marriage as a teen, kids young, possibly dying during birth, cook, clean, not be healthy, have no ambition and put others first, always and possibly die young.

Their very strict patriarch of a father opened up a world of dreams of them. Travel, personal ambition, putting their needs first and finally made them independent enough to stand up to him. How do you dream or have personal ambition if you do not know what's out there ? If you are not exposed ?

Feminism comes in different forms. One is not born a feminist, one is made one. And often they are made by patriarchal fathers who become feminists just because they dream of making their daughters strong and independent, for a different life for them.

Dangal is that for me.
