Dangal remains the highest grossing Indian movie by a margin

I don't know why trade esp BOI likes to downplay dangal's historic success but facts being facts, Dangal's WW gross stands at Rs 2200cr..a historic figure which is still miles ahead than any other Indian movie.

"Dangal was a commercial success, setting several records at the box office including highest-grossing Hindi film, highest-grossing Indian film worldwide. It remains the only Indian film to cross the ₹2000 crore mark, to this day"

Q is why is this amount not being mentioned by BOI? Haters will say China..but is China not on world map to contribute to WW gross?

Bollywood/Hollywood films usually don't do full fledged releases in China for 2 reasons:

1) Highly regulated market:

The figures cannot be confirmed since the Chinese Government/Distributors don't release figures at all. Sometimes not even to the producers.

2) The film-makers only get 15-18% of the revenue from Chinese theatre's compared to 50-60% anywhere else. Even if you did end up making a 1000 Cr in China, you would take peanuts home.

Dangal is certainly the biggest HIT since Bahubali Worldwide and deserves a lot more respect. The Chinese figures are hard to confirm though.
