That's what makes her Devasena! 😉 She doesn't like to keep mum and wait for an explanation later! IF she sees you are wrong, she is not going to wait till later to discuss it.. she will call a spade a spade. Also SIvagami never gave her a chance either.. IF Sivagami had called Devasena & talked to her privately, then okay.. but no, she made Baahu bring her to the court and so Devasena had no other way!

Also point to consider here - when Baahu comes into the court, he goes & stands beside Sivagami. He is not wrong - he thought he could explain it to his mother and so he went to stand beside her! If you think from Devasena's pov, she was left alone in the middle of the court.. she is not scared but she probably felt like she had to defend herself too! Though she knew Amarendra would not go back on his promise, she is not a damsel in distress.. She probably felt she can defend herself.. especially since she wasn't at fault there! She had the right to choose her groom & Sivagami had not mentioned the groom's name in her proposal..

Amarendra had kept quiet (it was his nature) to maybe see if there is a reason why his mother behaved this way.. but Devasena already had a bad impression of Sivagami and so when Sivagami made it worse, Devasena just defended herself..

One scene I really loved was the moment when Mahendra leaped into the air to deliver the final blow to Bhalla, and we saw the image of Amarendra form in the skies behind him.👏That final blow was as much Amarendra's revenge as it was Mahendra's, which he delivered through his living and breathing son.

And we couldn't see any trait of Amarendra in Mahendra in that whole sequence! This movie is pure excellence 😳

I agree, but then Devasena was so perfect already, she had to have a flaw to be human. 😉 Her flaw was being quick to express her anger. In every situation, her anger was completely justified, but instead of spewing venom in her words, she could have kept her anger in check and dealt with the issues more subtly. I think that's why Bahubali and Devasena were so perfect together. They balanced each other out. Devasena taught Bahubali that the world is not perfect and it's important to fight for justice, even if it means going against one's family, while Bahubali taught Devasena that there are different ways of fighting injustice, and sometimes keeping quiet bears fruit more than spewing harsh words. I think that's why Devasena mostly kept quiet during her 25 years of imprisonment. She adopted her husband's calmer approach, knowing that anger would get her nowhere and that one day, justice would be hers, but she would have to be patient for it.

@ bold - Exactly my thoughts! They were perfect together because though they wanted the same, they had different approach to things! Both were right but they approached life differently..

Yup.. as Amarendra had said earlier.. Touching Devasena was like touching his sword... a dishonor for any warrior! So by capturing Devasena and keeping her imprisoned, it gave him the feeling of having an upper hand over Baahu!

But why did they have to endure this torture for 25 years for no fault of theirs?! How is it the good winning over the evil? That guy ruled Maahishmati for 25 years, he was living happily, he tortured Deva days and nights..., I wish Amarendra was alive somewhere and he came back 😭

Sivagami wanted to make her son happy because at some level, she knew that he was being magnanimous about the coronation of Amarendra as King. What she didn't know I'd that magnanimity was false.

Devsena's rebuttal was spot on.

@ bold - exactly! We were discussing the same a while back! Up until the proposal, she was right/can be excused if she had done anything.. but The proposal and how she reacted to the rejection was SOOO WRONG!

I know!!! That part of the story irked me too! How can this be good winning over evil.. ?? It's not fair! And I was wishing the same but I guess if that were to happen, there was no point of Mahendra if u think about it!

ALl good/ even grey characters suffered ! But I guess it's like the real justice will win even if it's years late!

Even I didn't expect it from him! I mean, I always thought he did very well in his other movies, but I didn't know he was capable of this much. He truly exceeded everyone's expectations.

You know, I initially thought the hype over this movie was overdone, and expected it to be melodramatic and OTT, but then I saw part 1 and loved it, and then I saw part 2 and fell in love.

This movie deserved all the hype it got and more.😎

The surprise package was Prabhas in the movie. He surprised me each time he came on the screen. Each expression was spot on. There was no one single mistake!

It was my dad who compelled me to watch BB1 and I'll be forever grateful to him 😳

I think the only likeness he shared with his father was the physical features, and perhaps the strength and determination to do good to others. In everything else, they were vastly different.

I agree.. I don't want to consider him as such either but I think they were trying to get him to do that.. I mean @ end, Kattappa was like "Think like ur dad".. why? Amarendra is a legend no doubt.. but why does Mahendra have to be like him? Mahendra can think like himself & still complete the task..

Sometimes, in real life too, justice is delayed. Only God alone knows why, he has his own plan for everyone, and that's why sometimes it seems like evil wins over good, but in reality, justice is simply delayed, never forgotten. Bahubali too attempted to portray these themes in real life aspects. Showing Bhalla being punished immediately wouldn't have had the same thrill affect, the same tragedy, or even be realistic. After all, who existed in Mahishmati strong enough to kill Bhalla? Mahendra had to grow up, for he alone had the strength of his father.
