But I agree.. I would've preferred the other option!

He got defeated the first time and saw his mother once again captured. I think this taught him to curb his impulsivity and think clearer.

^^ Only glitch with that idea is that Bahubali would never have hid away while Sivagami's life was in danger, or Devasena was being imprisoned, so he'd have immediately attacked Bhalla to rescue both or either of them, resulting in his death some other way.

Personally, I'd like to have seen him die at Bhalla's hands, and Katappa simply feels responsibly for it because he wasn't able to protect him, and that's why he tells Mahendra in part 1 that he "killed" Amarendra. The killing need not have been physical but symbolical. I think that would've made for a better suspense than simply having Katappa blindly following orders and killing his beloved Bahu.

I know my story was crap 😆. Its just the 25 years of torture Devasena had gone through is too hard for me to digest!

I don't think Kattapa killed Baahubali as you said. Baahubali might have fallen unconscious. And then Bhalla made sure he died by bitchering his body. Lets imagine Bhalla didn't come there. Kattapa may have returned to the palace and informed everyone about his death.
Then tadaa, Amarendra came from behind and killed Bhalla. LOL 😆

When Devsena was arriving at MM, Katappa told her that Sivagami would nurture as a daughter, not as a daughter in law. Unfortunately, Sivagami didn't treat her as either, just someone who would give birth to the next heir of MM. And in front of Devsena, she took away every thing what her husband stood for and desired, including a Mother's love. That was the worst one - anything else they wouldn't have cared about .. but taking away that mother's love... she knew how much it pained her husband! She tried to do her part but she also knew it was Sivagami's place!

Even during the godh bharai ceremony, Devsena realised that Sivagami didn't know about Bhalla's plan to remove Amara as Senadhipati, and yet was keeping mum. She pointed out correctly that Sivagami's silence would be more harmful. And yes, it was. Yeah.. U know besides Bhalla & Bijjala, Devasena was the only one, who clearly saw where this was heading.. except she didn't think Sivagami or Kattappa would go to this extent! 😭

It got her son liked, his entire family suffered heavily, the Kingdom suffered.

She saw how Bhalla killed the Mahishmati people without care during the Kalakeya war. How can she not know his nature after that? She was purposely blind to his cold nature. And also I think Bhalla was just very sneaky and kept his feelings and jealousy hidden. And if you truly love someone, how can you kill them? I might get angry at my family, yell at them, not talk to them. But I can't imagine that if one of them hurts my ego I would go so far as to get them killed.

I think the opposite.. I think she loved Baahu a little more.. Not only love, but anger & ego can do the same.. When our loved ones do a mistake, it hurts even more & makes us more angry if u think they are being stupid! Going to extent of killing is not normal.. but I guess that's where the larger than life character part of Sivagami comes in! I don't understand that part though..

About her attitude towards Bhalla in war - I think she just took it as he wanted to defeat Kalakeyas! And so being a warrior, his goal & aim was only at defeating the enemies and that's exactly why she made Baahu the King! She knew that he was the one who was more suitable!

Bhalla was sneaky & played his cards well! He made Rajamatha Sivagami dance to his tunes - that says a lot about how brilliant he is!

When Baahu said he had promised Devasena that he'd take care of her and protect her, Sivagami was hurt that he didnt respect her promise to Bhalla. It was just that. Maybe Baahu would have explained her calmly and make her understand. But Devasena's outburst had hurt her ego, her pride. Even Amarendra was shocked by Devasena's blast. Yes she was hurt.. and it was that and also the fact that this woman was now important to him more than herself/Maahishamthi! I think that bothered her a lot! And if they had communicated properly, yes, she may have understood but she didn't give them the chance.. she called for this court meeting & presented Devasena there! Devasena just did what she would do at her place.. if she believes something is wrong, she will speak up! That's just her character.
Bhalla played his cards well. He didnt want to interrupt them as Devasena herself started the fight. He was waiting for Baahu's 1 word that could create a split between mom-son. That word was "mistake". Thats when Bhalla let his father speak and add fuel to the fire. Bhalla had been silent most of the time, he showed himself as the sacrificial lamb in front of his mother, he played the victim card.

Bhalla was brilliant in this scene! Bijjala was a puppet in his hand - in fact everybody in that court were a Puppet.. The strings were in Bhalla's hands! He waited for the sparks and then he let Bijjala interfere! and add fuel like u said ! He played his cards well..

If you notice.. Bhalla was doing this until he got the throne.. He let everyone else speak for him.. he rarely spoke! Even when he was just with his father & group, he didn't say much! Bijjala was the nonstop chatterbox.. but Bhalla just listened & plotted! This way, he made sure Sivagami never doubted him.. as others were doing things for him, even talking & expressing his wish!

Bhalla was truly a very well written villain. He hardly said anything, and yet he made everyone dance to his tunes and achieved his ambitions. Bijjaladeva was very vocal in his cruelty, and that's why everyone saw through him and he never got the throne, but Bhalla very early on learned how to hide his wickedness, and played his cards right until the very last moment. He was cruel and wicked, and yet he was so terribly clever. You couldn't help but admire his brains. He was an atypical villain, and was played to perfection by Rana.

I don't know if admire is a word I'd use 😆 just having brains doesn't earn my admiration. brains should be used for good. Amarendra was brilliant too but he used his brains to think out of the box to defeat enemies and save people. Bhalla reminds me of the villains in Game of Thrones ugh. But yes, Rana played him really well.

This is the first time I'm seeing you without a Ram / Janaki siggy or avatar 😆😆. I doubted if it really was you for a second as well.
My favorite part was when Bijjala was telling him to kill Sivagami and shocking everyone. Bhalla was just calm, collected, and calculating. He heard him out, got him to say everything, and then shut him up by ignoring his idea completely.

Without a doubt, I believe Bhalla would have given Bijjala up if he tried to blackmail him or anything. Everyone was pawns for him. Very well written villain like you said.

On a related note though, I think the true blame of Amarendra's death falls on Kumara. That was brainlessly stupid move on his part.

Haha, that's how strong my Bahubali craze has been. 😆 But not to worry, they are back in my dabba, cannot stay without them for long, lol. 😉

No doubt Bhalla would have sacrificed his father if necessary. To him, no relation was more important than the throne.

I know it was a stupid move by Kumara Varma, but I don't think we can blame him, as he's been portrayed as an innocent character from the start. He doesn't know how to identify evil and conspiracy, as he's a very honest fellow himself and was never exposed to such scandals in Kunthala. He doesn't really know Bhalla or Bijjala much, as they've never exposed their cruelty in front of him. Moreover, he had the best intentions and died thinking he was protecting his beloved Bahu and Devasena. 😭
