In my view, Devasena too had a huge ego. She wanted her son to come and break it. She could have tried to escape, yes. But she wasn't a coward. And Bhallala was a warrior equal to Baahu. Devasena was the best in her kingdom, but could she face Bhalla? If she made up her mind, yes probably given the mental strength she has got.

I don't think escaping a situation that threatens the life of your infant makes you a coward (it is not only her life or the emotions of what she's just lost). Her primary responsibility at that stage was to her new-born infant and getting herself shackled was not the answer.

Mahendra was deprived of his mother despite her being alive -- this is the saddest thing ever.

But if it was told before Devasena, she would have challenged it.

One of the biggest weakness of Bahu is that he dint stand up for himself. He dint fight for what he deserved. He fought for everyone but not for himself. 😕

Anyways, I feel they'll become fond of each other soon. On staying in touch. Devsena will bring out amarendra out of Mahendra. And avantika's idol will always be devsena because she belonged to her Kingdom and her purpose of life was always to free devsena.
