Not exactly time. I have a thing for tragic endings, no matter how much I hate them they make characters more iconic. Probably, if they would have done so it would be good, but I don't think the depth would be so much. For example, every day as a prisoner Devasena used to have faith on her son, the vengeance in her increased in her every day as she collected those twigs. Everything had to be in epic scale and so as Amarendra's death would leave a great void not only in Maahishmati, but also in us.

She does break down, she does pick herself up and stay strong despite the broken her, despite having lost the man whom she loved the most and is still broken, but she continues to live strong. However, this is also what makes her the most painful character. This is what makes us feel so much for her, this is what tears our hearts apart for her.

I personally feel that tragic endings don't define and make epics. Depth, once again, is derived from character and it's various arcs. Devasena was painted as a warrior, and as a result my mind refuses to accept her as someone who would allow herself to be imprisoned like that (we don't have to agree on this and that's fine, lol)

(I have lots to say about the way Devasena's character was handled post-Amarendra's death but I shall not get into a rant, lol)

Congratulations on new thread..👏

Rana has played this role amazingly!
In the last parts of climax, he clearly showed how restless he was getting but couldn't do anything.

And guys, was both Shivudu and Bhallaladeva using those spears against each other an inspiration?

Devsena suffered the most. "Swabhiman harkar bandini banke jaana asambhav hai." . , she had said to amarendra. That's what life she lived, just in the hope her son will fulfil his vachan.

aha! She did not live her life killing her Swabhiman! instead she actually lived with her swabhiman! She was Imprisoned, but at her own risk! She did not run away escaping or she did not bow down to Bhalla! so she lived with her head held high

True, he is a good actor no doubt but he excels in mother sentiments his movies like Chatrapathi, Yogi and now Bahubali all related to to mother and D does a commendable job. I think it's his real self that comes out on screen he is so attached to his mother and so relates to all mother characters on screen. 😳 😆

Next movie of his would be 'THALLI' a full fledged mom-son melodrama starring D as the son and Anushka as his mother... 🤣 😉

actually D is more close to his Dad😭

Since discussions have started, I did not have an idea where to start. So I'll just start with the scene that was most painful to me. I wasn't expecting that I would cry at Amar's death because we already saw it at the end of the first part but oh my goodness. That was a very painful scene. To make it worse, Bhalla's hacking of amar even after he died, my tears would just not stop. I was like 'he is dead already you monster! He is your brother! Show a little compassion at least!" So as I was crying my emotions went all over the place. The disgust and hatred for bhalla, the pain for amar and then SSR does not stop there 😡 A song is played when amar dies, a lullaby of some sort where it shows him as a boy, playing with Sivagami and bhalla and kattappa and the lyrics were like"your mother will always love you, your brother will always protect you" and that was when the dam broke. Tsunami of tears!! How badly amar was betrayed by the very people he trusted most! I hate you ssr!! It was already a painful scene and he made it worse! Enti mammalni baadhato champeiyaalani plan ah?! 😡

there only SSR excels.. he did not give much mom son moments.. in BB1 there was jsut one moment where he calls her Amma before cutting the chain and in BB2 there is just one moment where she caress her head and he takes her hands to his eyes! too short, but very significant.. and not at all hurting fans😆

Nothing as such, it is nice to have such constructive debates.😆
In my view, Devasena too had a huge ego. She wanted her son to come and break it. She could have tried to escape, yes. But she wasn't a coward. And Bhallala was a warrior equal to Baahu. Devasena was the best in her kingdom, but could she face Bhalla? If she made up her mind, yes probably given the mental strength she has got.
