Yes Stromboli is a small island in Italy, home of Mt. Stromboli volcano which has been an active for 2000 yrs nonstop and it is called "Lighthouse of Mediterranean" ( you know so much 👍🏼)

Bold - I don't know why maybe too much PC nowadays (political correctness not priyanka chopra)
too much agenda, actors offscreen behaviour etc but the main reason is decline in quality, most movies made now look and feel like 'made for TV movie' imo.

@bold ... Hmm, i do agree about movies and even people trying to be politically correct, self-righteous.. it is irritating.. 😆 But what do you mean, give me an example :)

..which actor's off-screen behaviour do you not like, Betty? (sorry I have long stopped following E! news or any other hollywood reports except very occasionally i guess)..

What's your opinion on the number of film adaptions of DC/Marvel comics? My mom's biggest gripe about HW cinema today is this... she says creativity is gone, it's no more like 'it used to be'.. sometimes, even I wonder at the heaps of movies based on DC/Marvel although I've enjoyed a few..

Oh you! all my class fellows from 10th class know (about Stromboli)! 😛

ha when you want to skip the exhausting irritating details in novels, movie is the better option I guess :p ..I want to do both though, somehow watching + reading gives me a 'full' vision 😃

What other book-based classics have you watched Betty, and what's your favorite? :)

I think I've only watched Moby Dick(latest adaptation - In The Heart of The Sea) from the list above.. but have read few books(Wuthering Heights, couple of Jane Austen books)... how is the movie Wuthering Heights?? :)

@bold --- ahh, perhaps it's a phase? :p ..would you say you watch lot of movies?? :) (more than average person :p )

Yes it could be just a phase, I am very fickle 😆 I watch much less movies now than I used to...

I watched Moby Dick(1956) with Gregory Peck, he was perfect... I've to say the movie really tested my patience in the beginning but in the end I was glad I watched it

Wuthering Heights(1939) - Laurence Olivier, Merle Oberon(she was Anglo Indian) - 👍🏼

Pride and Prejudice(1940) - Olivier and Greer Garson, Loved it but hated 2005 with a Kiera Knightely (but everybody else loved it 😊)

Sense and Sensibility(1995) - Loved it. Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet ( one of the few movies she doesn't appear nude) were great

War and Peace (1956) - Audrey Hepburn... What's not to love ❤️ 😊 Based on real events... Leo Tolstoy's book it must be the most famous world literature, so was finally happy to see it.

And finally Clueless(1995) is based on Jane Austen's Emma, instead of 1815 England it is set in late 20th century Beverly Hills, USA 😊

That's it for now, there are others, but these are most memorable.

What is your favorite book (classic literature)?

aww nice thankyou for the feedback.. Didn't know Clueless was based on Emma :D :D ..hehe, guess it makes total sense 😆

I wanna watch all of them 😃..I started War and Peace, few years ago, but something happened and never got back to it..

Was Wuthering Heights movie emotionally draining? ..The novel had a huge impact on me, I was emotionally disturbed for a few days that I started feeling repulsed towards my memory of the book.. I don't think any novel has had SUCH an impact on me.. But then, something about love sick stories make me sick lol.

My all-time favorite classic is The Brothers Karamazov, and in English Literature is Little Women.. what about you?? :)

Hey, did you watch Anna Karenina?? :)

Once started watching Anna karenina(1935) but didn't finish, maybe I'll... it's a sad story, isn't it 😕

Now I have to watch Brothers Karamazov too 😆

WH movie was sad but not that emotionally draining for me...

Bold - I've long stopped following them too... It's most of them, not one particular actor or one particular incident or behaviour that totally put me off of HW

Their hypocrisy (I know every human being is one to a certain extent) but HW stars are world-class hypocrites

Comics adaptations don't bother me, it's the noncomic non-disney movies...

Your mom is right, creativity is gone, it might be not their fault, everything that's worth doing has been done many times already... And too much PC does stunts imagination and creativity.

As I said the main reason is lack of quality, everytime I hear so much hype about a movie, I end up being very disappointed after watching it...

Like kavita Seth said, it's nice for the Film's publicity but if it becomes a practice then singers who have trained for years will lose out on work because of these "film stars"

And music is something that should be learnt formally otherwise the flaws are audible

@Betty ...hmm I see :)
Yeah @creativity, also, I feel everything has it's phases of ups and downs, and perhaps we are going through a low phase in movie, literature, philosophy, world politics, manners, everything 😆 .. sometimes feel that movie and literature are so exhausted, we've seen them reach highest point and anything new just falls short...?

What movie have you watched from latest ones, Betty? and did you like them?
