bhaiyya, the so called feminism-wali-auntie fight not just for women to go to work but also for people in the house to acknowledge that yes! a housewife is NOT useless. In fact being the housewife is one of the toughest jobs in the world. Before feminism, people used to take housewives for granted saying - poore din mein khaali baithi rehti hain. It is feminist movement that made people aware that housewives do a lot of work and deserve appreciation

i think the main problem is with how meera stated her opinion. When you are on a public platform you should actually do some research and craft a decent statement. Spouting the first thing that comes to your mind makes you look foolish and ignorant.

Therefore, your comment is not pertinent to that.

Housewives contribute to society. Not to economy.

People like to shame each and everyone. If mira chose to lead a lifestyle that you mentioned she will be called a trophy wife. Most stars' wives keep themselves occupied with writing books, interior design etc.
And mira is young. She has loads to explore in life. Motherhood is spent nurturing the kid. And i agree about not shaming for someone for the choice they make. I think that is true liberal for women.

My question was regarding the bold statement in your post in my quotation. Since you seemed to imply that housewives do have work at home so they can't be called freeloaders. My question to that is that if they truly don't do anything at home, is it then okay to call them freeloaders?

I don't see why either homemakers or working mothers shud be judged at all for their choices.. Mira is being criticised for her choice of words and the fact that she made an extremely judgemental statement..yes Kkk was also criticised and again for the very reason that she made a sweeping statement about those choosing to stay home with their kids..i say thumbs-down to both..for the simple reason that it is absolutely everybody's call to make a decision and both these ladies spoke in a condescending manner towards other women who think or act in a manner different from their own.. they are both from a privileged financial and social background and their statements are insulting to mothers who work very hard either balancing work and kids or those who raise their kids with no hired help.. as far as feminism is concerned, there is a group of people who are aggressive about their rights and another which is simply asking to be not judged about everything.. the basic thing is the right to choose..

She needs to STFU and who the hell is even interviewing her? What's her claim to fame except for marrying flop kapoor?

It's funny that you would mention that because I think excluding pro-life groups from sponsoring the women's march was an attempt by modern feminists to clarify the movement.

Sure, you can be a feminist and make a personal decision to never get an abortion because of your moral objections to it (i.e. be personally pro-life). But if you want to legislate your views and are actively fighting to take away other women's rights to make their own decisions about their bodies? Nah, that's not feminism any way you spin it.

Feminism seeks to give women agency over their lives; people who are pro-life and want to force their views on every woman seek to remove that agency.

Is this the reason some control freaks marry 20 year old girls? She will parrot every shit you'd teach her.

Lol. Shahid taught Mira she should marry 35 year old control freak and parrot his shit.

I think not. She met his requirements of what he wanted in a wife...and he hers.

He wanted a baby soon and she was all right with that. What's to get so antsy over other people's life decisions.

I don't think housewives are freeloaders. In fact the husband and kids are more relaxed and tension free because your own dear one is taking care of home. Not some paid staff. Or a harassed overworked mum who would like to rest after a gruelling day.
