She shouldn't have used feminazi (and that puppy comment was equally offensive).. and she should have used words like some elements of new wave of feminism ya something like that instead of using a blanket statement like that..

But other than that, i cant fault her for her opinions... remember the stuff that was said about her and shahid when they were getting married? The age difference ..her youth... so many people saying that she is marrying too young and she should work first .. live a little.. alot of people were essentially projecting their own choices and lifestyle on her and her decisions..
same when news came she is pregnant..
even these past two days, i have read a fair amount people calling her essentially jobless.. what has she achieved etc...

And there was also alot of criticism of the choices Kareena was making (and holding Mira up as an example of how motherhood should be .. amongst other) mira chose to rest for 40 days and she is criticised... Kareena didnt and she was accused of being a careless mother neglecting her duties 👎🏼

So yes.. mira is being aggressive in defending her choices (like kareena was being defensive in some ways).. probably throwing major shades at the people who criticised her in the process...i cant blame her for that..
and since this whole public speaking is probably new to her and in both interviews she went one or two sentences too far.. i ll give her benefit of the doubt .. for now..

Because fact is.. alot of us were pretty judgemental about alot of things in our 20s ... and with time and exposure we learnt the errors of our thinking...

I was judgemental about people leaving kids with nannies all day because i heard such horror stories. I was very judgemental about hijabi women and it was with time that i learnt the difference between a conservative and an extremist and then an extremist with violent tendencies.

Edit: i think it will take her time to grow comfortable in her skin and be able to ignore the criticism of her lifestyle.. then she probably wont sound as defensive or aggressive...

I m not liking the new trend of throwing shades at feminism but i think the movement itself has some work to do to put across its message better ...
in this age of social media, all movements have to learn to translate their message better... mira isnt the only one disassociating herself .. alot of people seem to be doing that lately cos the aggressive feminism (so to speak) is the one getting the coverage (negative news always does) and so people are now starting to be like I m a feminist BUT ... and this trend will continue until the movement itself reassert itself and say we are about being inclusive.. equality.. choices etc etc...

2 months later, I remember the stories about how pro life feminists were forbidden from participating in the march... that was a loud rattle and it is something people still remember along with the numbers and peaceful march and thousands in this and that city... and if we arent careful... more people will start to talk about these small negatives than the many many many more positives... which is sad tbh ... society as a whole seems to be going backwards.

I have to give it to her.

Saw some comments on twitter regarding this.

If she was a housewife, people are calling her a free loader etc. But a house wife is never free at home and she has her chores to do. Taking care of the kid is a big responsibility in itself. Feminism doesn't mean going to work and contributing to the economy. Mira will be contributing to the society in the way she raises her kid right and teaching them values. Cos half the reason the rape culture has grown is basically on how values arent enforced into their children.

So, would you say that those homemakers whose kids turn out to be bad people with lesser values than normal, are freeloaders? Do they contribute anything to the economy then? What if they had cleaners and cooks and nannies to do all their work for them? What would they be contributing to the economy then?

My personal views are that just like men are allowed to sit at home or go and work as per their convenience( depending on their wealth etc), women should have that choice. It doesn't matter if she chooses to just sit at home and do nothing and spend the money her husband earns. It is going to possibly do harm to her(she might get fat or get dumber watching tv all day) but still she can't be shamed for that. Her life and her choice.

She sounds like sonam kapoor
Post pregnancy making lots of headlines

Didn't she take a dig on working mothers? According to her spending time with your kid is everything, otherwise kid is equal to puppy according to her, then how is she getting time to give all controversial statements?

I don't know what feminism is, but iam all for gender equality.. I will respect someone if they deserve it not becoz of their gender..! And also will not blame somebody just becoz he is a man and will also not support someone just becoz she is a woman... !

Lol what is she mad for? It's her choice of what she wants to do. Why is she acting like she needs to be so defensive? Also, if Kareena wants to work and flaunt her puppy then let her! 😉
Does she realize that many women besides Kareena worked right after they gave birth too? Why single her out?
It's not like staying with your child makes you a better parent then one who worked. In some cases you have to do what you must.

Regarding the feminazi comment I don't think it was appropriate. I do think feminism is much needed in the world but there are definitely those who abuse it and use to for their own gain.

Also...the guys in the military who act like dogs are those who don't need the time of day. All people all over the world are like that.

Lol why did they call her? 😕 Going to a Women's Day event and ranting about 'feminazis'- I don't even have words for this.

Mira, it is because of 'feminists' that you are able to express your opinions without being silenced, wear the clothes you want to, vote, demand equality and much more.

She seems to be the typical 'cool girl'- thinks she is being oh so cool by discrediting what feminism has done for humanity and pandering to all the sexists who will no doubt be salivating all over her for these statements.

It has definitely become a trend to bash feminism from people who have absolutely NO understanding of what the movement is. The reason you are free to criticise feminism is because of the movement itself. If we were stuck in the dark ages, then you wouldn't even have the freedom to speak at a Women's Day event.

I'm sorry but when Indians act like the feminist movement has become some kind of equivalent to the Nazi movement, I want to laugh. You live in India, bro. Do you even know what women have to go through here, let alone other parts of the world?

Frankly, I think the term 'feminazi' is just a term used to shame women who stand up for their rights.

I, for one, am glad that I am not a 'cool girl' who will slander feminism to make a bunch of sexists happy. Let some men and women get offended that I am a feminist. They're definitely not rooting for me so I see no reason to mould myself to their expectations.

I didnt say that she was a freeloader. I said she is getting called a freeloader cos she is a housewife.

Therefore, your comment is not pertinent to that.

Housewives contribute to society. Not to economy.

People like to shame each and everyone. If mira chose to lead a lifestyle that you mentioned she will be called a trophy wife. Most stars' wives keep themselves occupied with writing books, interior design etc.
And mira is young. She has loads to explore in life. Motherhood is spent nurturing the kid. And i agree about not shaming for someone for the choice they make. I think that is true liberal for women.
