Another Oscars blunder: In Memoriam segment pays tribute to 'alive and well' producer Jan Chapman

Another significant blunder has also emerged. During the In Memoriam segment, in which the Academy pays tribute to figures from the film world who have died over the previous 12 months, a photo of a still-living film producer was accidentally included.

Ms Chapman, who had worked on Bright Star and The Piano with Ms Patterson, said she was "devastated" by the error saying: "I am alive and well and an active producer."

"I was devastated by the use of my image in place of my great friend and long-time collaborator Janet Patterson. I had urged her agency to check any photograph which might be used and understand that they were told that the Academy had it covered. Janet was a great beauty and four-time Oscar nominee and it is very disappointing that the error was not picked up."

The In Memoriam tribute film featured stars including Carrie Fisher, Prince, and Debbie Reynolds, and was accompanied by a performance of the Joni Mitchell song Both Sides Now by award-winning singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles.

The video doesn't work... Did they already gave acceptance speech before finding out about the mix-up? Whoa!

I still think what Steve Harvey did was worse and terrible and the fact that he was not reprimanded for it and still hosting Miss Universe is just peachy 😛

I remember how arrogant and cocky he was before the event and he started making jokes about his blunder soon after that 'incident' 🤢

Now they are making the accountant the scapegoat

"Accountant Brian Cullinan, who media reports said had been tweeting backstage shortly before, gave presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway the wrong envelope for the movie industry's top award on Sunday, the accounting firm said in a statement.

Once the error occurred, protocols for correcting it were not followed through quickly enough by Mr. Cullinan or his partner."

And Warren Beatty shares no blame in this?

He saw the envelope, hesitated but still let Faye announce the winner, not only didn't correct her but seem to encourage her... He looked disoriented

The whole thing might be staged, if not Beatty share the blame equally

He is 72 year old man and he clearly was hesitating. Faye didn't even pause and announced the winner immediately

Though yes I do agree he should have asked the organisers if he found something was off.

It was the Academy who was at fault

I think La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz handled the situation really well and with as much grace as the situation allowed

He took command of the situation, almost snatched the card from the dithering Warren Beatty and invited the real winners 'Moonlight' to the stage

Jimmy Kimmel tried to make some jokes and said both could win, but Horowitz was having none of it

He said "I'm going to be really thrilled to hand this to my friends from Moonlight".

I think he is the real hero in this whole situation ( assuming it was not staged 😆)

Instead of disappearing offstage and let Kimmel and Beatty handle it he did the dirty work and even lingered there long enough to hug "Moonlight" people.

it wasnt staged lol the producing comapany for oscars made a gaffe they gave them the envolope for the best actress instead of best picture when the opened it it read emma stone so warren assumed it was la la land they did a colour coding for oscars this time and dint print the names as usual and as a result it got mixed up 😆
