Alia Bhatt on Nepotism: I am successful not just because my family is famous, but also because I have worked hard
Alia Bhatt opens up about Nepotism in Bollywood and you could not agree more...

Nepotism in Bollywood has been a topic of debate since quite a few years now. While most star kids don't accept that it exists in Bollywood, actors who don't belong to families from the industry often complain about it. Kangana Ranaut started the debate once again when she took a dig at Karan Johar on his popular chat show (Koffee with Karan) recently. But does being from a filmi family actually help the star kids to gain fame and be successful? While the detractors will say yes, Alia Bhatt gives us the perfect answer.
While talking about nepotism in Bollywood, Alia told Mid-day, "I think a star kid can get that first film due to nepotism. But to constantly get films just because you belong to a filmi family, is not possible. I don't want to take any names, but there have been many examples of sons and daughters of lineage who have come and gone without achieving anything. What about that? Eventually, people come to see you as an actor and not because your family is famous, and you can't fool them. I am aware people do struggle to make a mark in the industry, but it's not right to blame nepotism. I didn't plan my birth in the Bhatt family. I can't change that and today, I am successful not just because my family is famous, but also because I have worked hard and you can't that away from me.

Well said Alia, we totally agree with you. In fact, stars like Shah Rukh Khan and
Akshay Kumar did not have any connections in Bollywood too. But they worked hard and are huge stars now, right? So as Alia said, nepotism might land you your first film, but you write your own destiny!

She is been unnecessarily put through the scanner of nepotism.
How many times she needs to prove her worth to the audience?

Barring one she has given all successful movies.

Let's not paint everyone with the same brush an give credit where it's due.

You rock girl. 👍🏼

I wish people would stop this nepotism nonsense and focus on real Bollywood issue. Namely poor scripts and failing foot falls. 😭

Starkids need to stop whining and complaining.
But yes, unlike most starkids, she actually deserves to be in BW.

She's right and she deserves to be where she's at.
But not every star kid in the industry is like Alia Bhat or Varun Dhawan. There are many who get chance just because they are merely star kids. Arjun is still getting movies despite giving flops. Why? Because he is a son of famous producer. Who would give Sooraj Pancholi, Athiya Shetty, Jhanvi Kapoor a chance if they did not belong to influential families?

The problem is all star kids get free ticket to bollywood and have the power to reject A list movies where outsiders struggle to get B list movies. Many talented and good looking outsiders are waiting to get chance but they never do!

Star kid delivers 5 flops, still get chances. Outsider delivers one flop, no chance!

I don't blame the star kids for that because they are not responsible. Instead, I blame bollywood system and producers. They are the ones responsible.
