Its because its name of ruthless leader who is linked to likes of Adolf Hitler and Aurangzeb.

And also here, how he is simply disrespecting his mother's and wife lineage by refusing to give his children a hindu name. Its was unnecessary

I'm surprised people are suggesting that Saif was getting hate because he gave his some a Muslim name. 😕

It's obviously not about the fact that it is a Muslim name, but the fact that the name is Taimur (and the history associated with this name).

Anyway, what parents name their kids is not anyone's business, but Saif is going on milking the controversy to promote his film.

That's what I initially thought, but then he is also saying that he can't name his son Alexander. I don't think he would get much hate for naming his son that. That's why I think that what he meant here was that he couldn't have given a Hindu/Christian name to his son.

Ok I do agree that Ram Ali Khan would have brought in a lot of controversy but so is Taimur.And Why only Ram?There are other hindu names that would have worked just well.Aryan and Suhana aren't muslim names and no one points a finger at their name.Or if nothing he could have chosen a neutral name like Aman.I am sure there are many more such neutral names.
Now I do not object Saif givibg his son a muslim name.
I am not saying that he has to have a hindu name but Saif coming out and saying he can't name his son Ram,even though his mom and 3 out 4 grand parents are hindu...it didn't go down well with me.

His mom is muslim and babita kareena's mother is Christian 🤔

Didn't sharmila convert to islam? so she is a muslim as for babita she follows her mother's religion which is Christianity so she is also Christian just like her mother
