Naming one's child does not equate to playing with people's sentiments. It might be showing his historical ignorance. Even that is acceptable. I asked in a poll, how many knew Taimur's name (in History) after their school. Fifty percent knew. Fifty percent did not.

A culture which is more than 3000 years old must have innate ability to safeguard itself. Such a culture do not need custodians.

with taimur in same breadth.saif's arguments that taimur was violent so was
Ashoka so whats the big deal shows how half knowledge kills all logic.
Ashoka was cruel.bt that was his past.after He renounced his violence he has
risen up in humanity.taimur on other hand has never shown any remorse never
repented.he was a beast.n died a beast.hope ur understanding the bone of contention

I don't have any problem with Taimur(Apart from I don't really like the sound of it) nor do I think that naming him Taimur is wrong just because it was some ruthless leader's name but why not name him Ram or Alexander?
Ok I do agree that Ram Ali Khan would have brought in a lot of controversy but so is Taimur.And Why only Ram?There are other hindu names that would have worked just well.Aryan and Suhana aren't muslim names and no one points a finger at their name.Or if nothing he could have chosen a neutral name like Aman.I am sure there are many more such neutral names.
Now I do not object Saif givibg his son a muslim name.
I am not saying that he has to have a hindu name but Saif coming out and saying he can't name his son Ram,even though his mom and 3 out 4 grand parents are hindu...it didn't go down well with me.

It shows his mentality and thinking. He can marry two Hindu women but has problem with Hindu name for his child. Best for him would to shut his mouth on this. What Pathan gene is Kareena talking about. His ancestors are from Pataudi.

It's off-putting that Saif made a big fuss about how he can't name his kid Ram especially since the kid only has 1 muslim grandparent and 3 grandparents who are not Muslim. Still, he thinks only one should get importance.

Anyway at the end of the day, it's their personal life and nobody says anything bad about Sara and Ibrahim also having Muslim names. If they picked a regular Muslim name, I don't think there would have been much outcry.

Taimur is just plain awful. I can't even imagine a German gentile man marrying a Jewish woman and naming their kid Adolf. That's how bad this situation is. Kareena is brainless but I don't think most women would put up with such blatant disrespect to her culture.

Aryan and suhana are not muslim names. My main point is people does not have any problem with SRK giving his kids Hindu names but the same people are bashing Saif just because he gave his kid a muslim name. That's hypocrisy

I don't think people have a problem that Saif gave his son a muslim name.The thing which is irking is him going on record saying that he can't name his child Ram or Alexandre.There wasn't even any need to say that.

🥱 Fir log bolenge, naam toh personal business hai 🤔 But dear Saif and Kareena, when you name a child on an invader known to be the cruelest, most hated, people of the country you call your home make it their business whether you like it or not. What's in a name? Names par hi toh history, geography based hain. 😛 I wonder why you have so many reservations on naming your child after a legendary, mythological character who is considered perfect King- Ram (who BTW is real for many Indians); or Alexander who though also a conquerer/invader; but he deserves to be applauded for the qualities which made him Alexander the Great! I guess certainly better than Taimur!

Recently, while reading about Chandni Chowk, I came across Roshanara, Jahanara, who were Shah Jahan's daughters (and Aurangzeb's sisters). Roshanara's story (which I read in wiki) is just spine chilling. I curiously typed her name in Facebook search. There are so many profiles with that name. Obviously, all these girls would not be knowing history.

Preferences are one thing, but why is he saying here that he cannot name his son Ram? If he doesn't like that name, fine, but what does he mean by saying he can't name his son that? Isn't his wife Hindu? So why make such a statement?
