As far as I've heard, he is a Canadian citizen and had given up his Indian citizenship. But it is possible that he is not a Canadian citizen but only a permanent resident (as mentioned by another member). But I doubt about the PR status because to maintain your Permanent Residency, you have to spend about 2 years in every 5 years duration. I don't see him do that, because most of his films in the last few years have been shot in India or UK. He has probably already gotten his Canadian citizenship a few years back when quite a few of his films were shot in Canada (some 2X7 Tasveer film with Ayesha Takia, Thank You etc.) and completed the residency requirement to get the citizenship.

I still cannot fathom why an actor living and working in India has a Canadian citizenship. Its not as if he was born in Kaneda or lived there or worked there for a long time 😕

No india doesn't allow dual citizenship and as far as i know he does have canadian passport instead of PR as being claimed here . Best fo both world with canadian passport and OCI for india ( ofcourse leaving aside voting rights in india) 😳

I heard Canadian gov offered him citizenship.

I guess people wouldn't have bothered that much about his Canadian citizenship had he not been minting so much money making the patriotic kind of films in India.
