About the case
The Delhi High Court addressed the inheritance of Sunjay Kapur's Rs 30,000 crore estate this week. His children with Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan, alleged that their stepmother, Priya Kapur, forged Sunjay's will and misused the estate. Represented by lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, the siblings claimed Priya, with two witnesses, created the will without Sunjay's input. They requested the court to halt any estate transfers by her until the matter's resolution.
As per Law Beat, Jethmalani said, "This is the best case for why one should not forge a will. Under this case, she will be booked for forgery. If this forgery is proved, she will lose everything that she is bequeathing to herself under the trust. The lady is a gambler, good luck to her."
In June, Sunjay Kapur, the chairman of Sona Comstar, died of a heart attack during a polo match in Windsor, UK. He was leading the Gurgaon-based car parts company, founded by his father. Sona Comstar announced his passing, remembering him as a visionary leader who transformed the company, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and growth.
