My knowledge is so overrated here !! I truly missed the joke/ sarcasm coz am not into Sallu-SRK fan war on this forum.

Box Office numbers cater to the masses. They tell how popular a film is. Fans are part of the masses. They rely on BO numbers to see how popular their favorites are versus the others.

Numbers will never tell the "quality of a film" because some great gems have modest budgets and releases and some terrible films do well.

I think only fans on this forum or social media in general obsess over numbers because of fanswars. I am yet to discuss the numbers of any movie whenever a movie is discussed among friends or colleagues.. at best it would be the final verdict..

Cause BW has always Box Office obsessed

IN 70s and 80s they celebrated golden or silver jubilees.

People say who cares if a film does 1 crore or 100 as long as its good. But who cares if a film ran for one day or 100 days as long as its good. Bollywood has always celebrated Box Office as everything. 😛

1. Fans get paid a percentage of the 200/300 crores a film makes...how much percent we dont know, have to ask those fans 😆 mujhey toh aaj tak ek chavanni bhi nahin mila 😭

2. Current times, people are only obsessed with money, how much money a film makes. So many good movies get ignored because they are not vigorously promoted, dont have big stars, hence they dont make money, are declared flops but later we discover them as gems on TV or DVD.

In the old days, nobody knew exactly how much money Sholay made, or Deewar made, or Chupke Chupke or Khubsoorat made...we just knew they were great movies and enjoyed them as such.

There are films that were bo success that I hate..never want to watch again..ever

Dabang 2

Happy New year
Just the name a few

There films that didn't do well.. talaash, saheb bewie aur gangster 1 and 2. Gangs of wasspour, dhobi ghost dil dhadkane do... just to name a few.. I can watch these movies and enjoy any time

So it is the content for me..

And I don't really get how BO numbers are supposed to show public acceptance.. they show public acceptance only at the given time frame.. Many films that do not do well at BO go on to become classics that people love to watch again and again for example AAA or Swades.. On the other hand, many movies that score high fail to command the same level of attention after the time passes.. So I don't know.. I don't think BO numbers show anything to be honest.. So many factors are involved when it comes to numbers
