SPOILERS.

The movie was sooo slow in the beginning. I dont know why I found Amar so good-looking on TV. On screen, he had whatsoever no charm.

It only picks up when Shekhar enters and the actor is really good in his role. He emotes really well and his chemistry with Taran is better.

Taran is one CONFUSED lady. She insisted on being with Shekhar. Then why couldnt she be adamant on her feelings for Shekhar? Just because Shekhar, who is on some guilt-trip, says that she loves Amar more than she will ever love Shekhar, she agrees? As if. Pft.

UGH. I am just so disappointed. After such a long time, I thought hmm finally Bollywood releases an out-and-out love story and I will finally leave the theatre feeling all mushy and gooy inside. Instead all I wanted to do was throw my popcorn tub at the screen.

2/5 - 2 for Shekhar. Loved you. Wish the girl had ended up with you. Wish you hadnt been so stupid to sacrifice your love though. -_-

I was looking forward to watching this film, but I am in two minds now. I find all this talk about someone having more of a 'right' on a woman (something we see quite often on TV and in films) to be quite regressive.

SPOILERS

Saw the movie was Okayish but had potential to be good.Bollywood rarely makes movies in which a girl is actually in love with two guys.Love triangles are normal but usually in a love triangle its clear whom the girl loves, the other guy is some one whom parents choose or the girl's friend etc.In this movie the heroine is actually torn between two guys she does love.So it had good potential to be different had only the heroine been allowed to take her decisions.Whatever they might have been it should have been her's

I dont mind the ending just that the decision should have been completely hers and not some one else telling her while the heroine just nods her head along. If end game was to be Amar and Taran then that should have been Taran's decision.Basically whatever Shekhar said should have been Taran's dialogues that i was just trying to do the right by being with you but i actually love Shekhar. It had potential but was ruined

the family understands why shekhar went away leaving taran but the lady who is deeply in love with shekhar doesn't bloody know why he did that...and just nod her head for all the nonsense he was talking abt
there is no love b/w amar-taran after he came back...its only friendship zone...she only loves shekhar...she cares abt amar but she is no more the taran whom amar knows before his accident...she is a new taran now...she belongs to shekhar...

shekhar basically sacrifice his love becos of amar...he is so much in guilt ridden...first for amar's accident...second for falling in love with his fiancee...he is burden with guilt...he is burning with guilt thus he listen to his mind set things right for amar since he is the first man in taran's life...her first love...he has the most right on taran...to ease his burden...he breaks his own heart...so that he finds penance...

the family crying in the end was for shekhar including papaji...they know shekhar had so much guilt and burden in his heart due to amar...he sacrifice his love for the sake of amar...this guilt increases after amar-shekhar convo...when amar tries to set things right for taran...

as for taran..she clearly loves shekhar...but she doesn't know what she wants...but after choosing shekhar...she never once turns back to amar...though she cares for him...all while she thinks only abt shekhar and his indifferent behaviour... when he is drunk...it hurts her...his dissapperance act ...she looses her sleep...when amar gives a peck on her lips...she just distance herself and moves away with excuses...whenever amar comes closer to her she moves away...in the party she looks lifeless...her eyes...her heart...her mind seeking for shekhar...when she tells her sisters that shekhar was going away after opening of her new business...she hugs her sisters and cries...for shekhar...she confess the truth to amar abt loving shekhar...this clearly shows she loves shekhar deeply...even in the end..when shekhar talks abt amar...she is still confused as hell...and just nod her head for the nonsense shekhar was talking...

shekhar is a practical man...his guilt was the main reason why he used his mind rather than heart to unite amar-taran...he was mostly thinking abt amar...what he have done to amar...the guilt...the betrayal forced him to take a decision from his mind...if he really took the decision from the heart ..he would not be crying in the plane...he just set things right which he snatch away from amar...taran...family...which the family knows especially papaji...thats why instead of being happy for amar-taran reunion...they were crying for shekhar...

as for taran...yes she unites with amar...love(shekhar)showed her a way again...find her a way again...she is with amar all happy...her first love but deep down corner of her heart...she will secretly love shekhar too...becos she loved him deeply...even more than amar...why i say so...more than amar's pain after his comeback...its shekhar's pain...helplessness she felt the most...he is hurt...she is hurt...he is heartbroken...she looses herself

she clearly loves shekhar after amar's comeback...its shekhar who sees things through pratical way...he believes what his eyes saw which is taran being happy with amar...dancing...smiling...this made an impression in his mind that taran is happy with amar...he never see how lost she is with amar...being with amar...she is 24/7 thinking abt shekhar...he never saw the lifeless taran with amar...his mind took a decision...makes a decision ultimately made taran accept it...the problem with shekhar...he thinks alot...that too by mind not heart...practical man...practical decision...

he took decision by his mind thus his heart cries

i will give the film review afterwards ...

Mages, I think the opposite completely. Shekhar clarified at the end that the reason why Taran chose him in that Gurudwara scene was because she thought it was the RIGHT thing to do. Shekhar hadn't done anything wrong so she had a tremendous amount of guilt towards him.

The biggest weak point of this movie is Taran & I don't know if that's why Neha's performance was really weak but what a disappointment! Pia was far stronger than Taran & that movie was made 15 years back! Here they didn't even bother giving the woman have the final say & that was a big letdown. I ended up laughing during the climax because it was so corny and plain stupid.

I barely felt for any of the characters. Tum Bin is one of my all time favourites & the second instalment was a far cry from it.

Always knew it was a stupid move to revisit the original.

^totally agree! But no I do not think neha's performance suffered due to weak characterisation! If one is a good actor their acting will be good regardless of the characterisation! And Neha clearly is not a good actress! I personally do not find any of them good looking either! Especially Neha and the guy who played Shekar! The movie made 15 years ago was a million times better! And I feel it is an insult to even compare it with this movie!

Agreed i think the ending clarified that it was Amar that Taran truly loved and was with Shekhar because she was trying to do the right thing.Only problem this should have come from Taran herself and not some other person making her realize it.It just made Taran seem weak.

nice reviews guys...i felt she loved shekhar...he did the right by taking her back to her first love...a love that she loose becos of him...after comeback...she cares abt amar but there is no one moment she thinks amar...it was always shekhar in her heart and mind...when amar comes closer to her...she maintains a distance...she is not even letting shekhar go away..
after comeback...not to further complicate things further...she should let shekhar go back...

shekhar is totally guilt ridden...thus he does the right thing by uniting them...

the problem with taran...she loved both men and don't want to loose both...

i couldn't feel that she loved amar...maybe due to chemistry or there is no much scenes b/w amar-taran unlike prequel i could feel the love of amar-piya through piya's yearning and tears...the entire film is abt shekhar-taran and their decision...amar is a misfit.. he is just a twist...whether he loves him or not...

many says she loves amar...fine she should know it in the end for herself that she loves amar..why even when shekhar talking to her abt amar...she gives only confused expression throughout...one just could not feel her love for amar just that shekhar just did the right thing as amar has the right on taran first...in that world of theirs...there is no need of shekhar...the truth is right till the end she is confused becos she loves both men...she just listen to shekhar rather than listening to her heart and mind...what she wants...she just nods along with shekhar flow...he sacrifice due to his guilt...

taran character is totally weak...very weak...she doesn't know what she wants...whom she loves...right till the end she doesn't know whom she loves

even the last hug...her hug with shekhar speaks more volume than her hug with amar which seems more like consoling taran as she loose her love the second time...

to be honest...i could feel the love of shekhar-taran not amar-taran...aditya-neha has a natural good chemistry

there is no need of amar's character at all...he complicate things n made the film boring in the end,.they could have deal it with shekhar-taran only ...their conflict and confusion

in my eyes...she clearly loves both men...she is united with amar...she will still have feelings for shekhar...

*spoilers*

Finally watched the film last night. To be honest this could have been a great movie but it disappointed big time, more so because it had the potential. First of all the movie is slow but also becomes pretty irrelevant at times due to placement of scenes. Like Taran and Shekhar's drive when they go to meet Shekhar's friends for the patisserie work. Its the first time they are out and she is freely talking about why she loved Amar, giving him long loving stares and then getting drunk...all that made little sense for the fact they had met alone for the first time. Later how quickly Taran starts getting attracted to Shekhar is again too rushed and seems out of the place.

AS tried hard to give us a different climax from original Tum Bin and though I loved the thought but I feel he failed miserably because he never let Amar's character build in that way. Simply no scene of Amar-Taran bonding/equation in the beginning or even when Amar returned made it so difficult to connect with them when she finally ended up with Amar. Amar's character was very bland and I feel Aashim could have pulled it had the charterer been better. Had there been better scenes of Amar and Taran and why actually they loved each other so much, this would have been a much better film and climax would have made more sense.

At the end I would only say that I really liked the whole idea of the plot. It seems AS wanted to convey that how sometimes we are in love with just the idea of love. For Taran, when she met Shekhar, he made her love the idea of love. He helped her "seek" happiness. He became her need and an idea to find happiness again. But then this is not always love. Even a friend can do this for you. The truth seemed to be that she always loved Amar without any reasons (pyaar bewaja hota hai). For her caring for Amar came most naturally as we saw in later parts how she would care for his health and his appointments with doc. For Taran Amar was not an after thought, he was a pre-requisite. And thats why she always belonged to him.

BUT BUT BUT, this whole idea, however beautiful it is, could not be felt convincing on the screen because in ever frame, Shekhar's charchter was more powerful than Amar. His presence in Taran's life seemed more relevant than Amar.

Its not the plot but the execution that caused the problem. Just adding a few scenes like Amar-Taran's real equation or Amar being badly affected by she rejecting him or even having an outburst when she chose a Shekhar could have given a lot of depth to the plot.

Anyways it was still a good time pass thanks to the songs and the fact this was no bikini-nighclub-sex before you know your name kind of story.
