What is Marriage?

I've seen enough times in Karan Johar films that marriage to him amounts to nothing but a hill of beans.
SRK marries Priety, Rani marries Abhi who loves her so much- but f**k that, woh mera saccha pyaar nahin hain

SRK marries Aish in ADHM, but f**k that- woh mera saccha pyaar nahin hain

Anushka marries Fawad Khan but f**k that- GOD KNOWS what her thought-stream was throughout the marriage

Why is marriage taken so freaking lightly in K.Jo films?

1.the legally or formally recognized union of a man and a woman (or, in some jurisdictions, two people of the same sex) as partners in a relationship.
2.a combination or mixture of elements.

We've been fed with happily-ever-after marriages for too long and that certainly doesn't represent the reality, what with the rising rate of divorces.

But I will give Karan the benefit of doubt here, he has shown strong marriages too - in K3G or MNIK. KANK was about infidelity and ADHM was about unrequited love, so the divorces went with the theme of the movie.

I guess he is seeing too much infidelity around him. Marriage has become a joke in Bollywood. He did mention that there were few to none who actually honored marriage in the industry anymore.

Somebody needs to find him a partner asap. He is feeling way too lonely.

I also feel, a lot of people put up with cheating in real life, but in the movies, his characters are too strong to overlook the cheating aspect. They just dump them and move on - as they rightly should.

I don't think you are married, darling. You will understand what is marriage all about when you marry.

Movies it is said are a reflection of society. KJo's society i.e. BW has time and again shown the crumbling institute of marriage and affairs coming out in the open

some in name of true love have an affair end their marriage and re-marry the person they claim to be in love with

KJo seems to be revolving around this concept of true love, a love that rebels against the societal norms and breaks old relationships (as we have seen so many times in BW movies)

Happily Ever After do exist but for them to exist it takes a lot of hard work and dedication, commitment towards the relationship itself
