When I think of K.Jo's movies, there's simply no rhyme and reason.

Ali is a cheater which Alizeh had knowledge of, and yet still goes ahead and breaks off her relationship with her family to pursue.

Rani Mukherjee in KANK "just doesn't feel it" for Abhishek.

Again, I'm not saying its wrong that Ali or Rani are like this- but WHY is the question.

I wish Karan Johar would at least showcase the downfall of relationships, instead of making it as if we need to fill in the spaces and assume the rest.

Alizeh leaves Ali even before they get married. But Ali comes back to her, asks for forgiveness, and since love is her weakness, she cant help but forgive him and marry him. But even after marriage he starts cheating again, so she divorces him. The fact that despite loving him a lot, she simply cannot put up with cheating and leaves is a really strong trait, especially when she knew she was going to die.

With Maya in KANK, she was brought up by Abhishek's family. She thought she owed them this much. She thought it will work out.. but it did not.. she simply couldn't fall for her husband, and realizes it.. and leaves.

In the former case, it was not as spelt out. In the latter, it is quite pronounced, Karan could not have been more clear. When you question WHY he didn't showcase the downfall in the former case, it's probably because her relationship with Ali was not the focal point of the movie. Simply like you could question, WHY didn't they show how she dies and what happens then. It's simply him exercising his cinematic liberty.

KANK was about infidelity for heaven's sake .
Saba's story with SRK's character was not having too much details . But How can you forget when she understood Ayan will never love her the way he did Alizeh , she broke up with him . Now say Kjo takes flings casually .

Yes great marriages do exists , but they are few, very few . Most of marriage survives because one of the person is too adamant to loose hope (Sometimes both). Great Marriage do not mean having kid and staying together etc etc .. And let's not talk about cheating , Torture , Disrespect in marriages

I dont get why people fail to understand Rani's character in KANK. She simply didnt love or lust her husband. She did care for him but the passion was missing. I have hated KANK for years. I still dont think its great cinema or anything. But I get Dev and Maya, why their respective marriages failed and why despite having such different personalities they managed to find solace in each other.

We've been fed with happily-ever-after marriages for too long and that certainly doesn't represent the reality, what with the rising rate of divorces.

But I will give Karan the benefit of doubt here, he has shown strong marriages too - in K3G or MNIK. KANK was about infidelity and ADHM was about unrequited love, so the divorces went with the theme of the movie.

SRK's loyalty towards Rani even after she dies is very endearing in KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI

Happy marriages exists but it's very less in number just like true love hardly exists. And one can't say that they have seen many happy couples around. Bcoz in this society, married couples wear a mask of happiness in front of the world. Only the couple will know that they are happy in their relationship or now. I'll say that marriage is a business deal in real life where people sign an agreement to live together and have kids.

this is actually a fair and civil response, thank you for keeping it clean instead of telling me to wake up in the real world like another has 😳

I guess the Maya thing is justified to an extent.

As for ADHM though, I feel like K.Jo left maaany things as un-focal points of the movie, leaving it looking very half baked.

To be honest, I would've liked to see what becomes of Ranbir after she dies; I would've liked to see quite a few things to be explained to basically understand Ranbir's character.

K.Jo shoves lots of light on ek-tarfa pyaar and all that, but he can't just leave all other characters' stories halfway done to keep justifying unrequited love and its trials
