He shows larger than life things because he believes In that kind of cinema. And let's be honest. We all like the school shown in SOTY and comapre our boring schools/colleges to it. We love the extravagant mansion Raichands live in-both Delhi and London. We want to be able to go on random foreign trips every weekend.

We want something larger in our lives and thus we wanna see it as well. Thus KJo shows it.

I noticed one more thing in ADHM.

Alizeh was never shown doing a job even after marriage. She would always accompany Ali wherever he would go for concerts.I don't think she worked even after her divorce/separation. They didn't show any such thing then how come she could afford the expensive treatment for her cancer in London?She was not in touch with her rich parents also.From where did she get the money to get herself treated in London?
