There is a difference between an opinion in a pub to a dialogue in the movie. If the movie really had tried to insult Rafi, I would have called it distateful. But looking at the comments, it is not. So it is fine. (If this line was used in Farah Khan's movie, it would surely be in insulting tone. But KJo has ears for music. He might not throw jibes casually).

I do understand what you are trying to say...but who decides the limit where a person is considered sentimental/touchy or the limit where any dialogue/action crosses the boundary of respect? A few days back AIB ka koi member made a snapchat video on Sachin-Lata where lots of things like "you should just die" were said for Lata. people didn't consider even that as disrespect, while I considered it hugely offensive. People might call me touchy for that but in my mind I wasn't being touchy and the video was indeed disrespectful...

These days it's so common that people use abusive slangs in conversation like MC & BC... I totally hate them and speak against using such words even at the cost of being called touchy/sentimental by others. Should I let others decide for me what is disrespectful or not or do I make that decision for myself? If others call me touchy for that then so be it... I will take pride in being called touchy then being disrespectful! Period.

As you said "you should just die" very bad taste..it is disrespectful and abominable whether some agree or not.
And MC & BC totally misogynist, disrespectful towards entire womankind..and in these cases you are not being touchy. You are voicing against what is wrong and there is no scope of debate I guess. I mean how can "you should just die" and MC,BC be funny?
And these can not be labeled as "personal opinion".
But "i dont like his song or find him crying while singing" can be labeled as personal opinion...just a mere personal opinion. That's all. It is not name calling, it is not abusive slang. Some may find it disrespectful which is totally fine and they may debate over it , like we are doing.
But extremes of sentiments, emotions is uncalled for.

And please note that I am not going against you. I am just expressing my opinion.

Personally I love Rafi's song and I totally hate 99 % of the current generation of auto tuned singers but really if someone doesn't like Rafi's singing I won't really call that disrespect. Its a personal liking in my opinion.

They might have commented on his personal life (not that I agree). But if you make a poll on his acting abilities (like some one compared Ranbir to Kamal recently 😆 ), they can still vote for him.

Rafi was not only talented, but a very good human being too. So he has earned some respect in the industry. People like Amitabh, Raj Kapoor are always appreciated for their talent. People like Rafi and Sunil Dutt are respected.

isilye to maine kaha ki personally, i didn't find that dialogue disrespectful, cos it was just on opinion of Anushka's character in the movie. But I also don't deny that while the dialogue wasn't necessary for the movie, it does have the potential to be hurtful for some people at least, and i don't blame them for that cos jitni zyada attachment utna zyada potential to be hurt/offended by such dialgues...I'm sure not many people would have minded if anushka's character said the same thing about someone like Altaf raja ...

What I don't undersatnd is ki yaha extreme of sentiments or emotions kaha se aaa gaye... people didn't like something said for the person they idolize and voiced their opinion (which is very normal for their idols in movies, sports, or politics)...after which Rafi's son approached Nihlani to discuss what can be done about it...It's not like anyone is going violent against KJO or Anushka...

Extremes of sentiments/emotions se yaad aaya - Have you seen football and cricket matches or the reactions of people watching those matches when their team loses or wins... I'm sure their reactions are much more exaggerated then those of Rafi supporters...Will you call them touchy too? The thing is - more the emotions involved in someone/something (whether rafi-lata or Cricket-football) the more extreme the tendency of reactions... people can't be called touchy for the same cos they won't necessarily elicit similar reactions for other people or situations.

In my opinion disrespectful is when someone makes insulting comments on someone's personal life based on rumours and blinds. We don't really know who is a good person or not. We can't really judge them but we choose to do it anyways based on what we want to believe. Fair enough for me.

But judging talent is what an audience is suppose to do and it will always vary based on individual's taste and preference. Either u appreciate it or u don't. Thats what every artist goes through no matter how legendary they r. Thr will be some who won't like it and its possible to do so. Thr is nuthn insulting about not liking someone's talent certainly not because that person has been a mass favourite, or a legend in this case. Its like we all like this person so u r bound to like him too or u r being disrespectful. Really ? No place for a choice or criticism as an audience who they are selling their talent to ? .

I can understand that Rafi saheb is considered a legend but why can't anyone have another opinion about him? I believe everyone can have an opinion about every person including God and it's not disrespect but just one doesn't need to agree with the generalized Public opinion. The dialogue was not even an insult and in the entire movie, Ranbir's character was seen praising his songs.
