@NathuPyne exactly this. Those who are arguing , are doing based on half-knowledge. They have not even watched the movie you see. If they had watched the movie they would have understood that only two common people are conversing. They are not trying to establish the fact. And I am not supporting "Kjo", I am supporting the "director".

the non-violent side of Being touchy/sentimental results in parents and their children taking care of each other in their vulnerable ages. Being sentimental motivates us to give respect to our elders, teachers and our Gurus (Rafi sahab included) etc. etc.

no one is condoning violence but FOS is for everyone (though it should be within limits in my opinion) ... even those who disagree with KJO on Rafi's (supposed) insult should be allowed to voice their opinions as long as the protests are non-violent.

I will not comment on Dadri because I don't want to divert this topic.

I dont think being sentimental or emotional can result in honor killing.

That is anger and stubborn behavior.

Even the Chinese & Japanese are more respectful towards their uniqueness, individuality and culture than us Indians.

I agree with 9Tanki that if we Indians cannot give due respect to our national legends then we cannot expect others to be respectful towards them too.

Exactly, other culture dont even dare to mock these cultures.

But for us, people mock our legends, our gods and then when we show our hurt, we are called touchy.

Can you imagine the need for someone to put Hindu gods n goddesses pics on shoes or toilet seat. What was the need, and then they say we are intolerable.

OT, I think Elizeh is shown as someone who mocks others (a behavior we see mostly around nowadays) i havent seen the movie, but the promo where she calls Ayan's mother as milkha since she ran away, so its the character.

But then i do agree that KJO neednt have used Rafi Saab's name if it wasnt taking the story forward in any ways.

I don't think Karan insulted Mohd. Rafi, I know a few people that don't like old songs all together, and yes.. I have heard them also say that during those days singers used to sing like they're crying, that aren't expressive enough O_O
..I get it, it is outrageous when they say such things - but that is how few people are in real world. And cinema is mere imitation of life(okay... to an extent), and so that was portrayed in the movie through a person's dialogue(to which there was another dialogue by Ranbir's character??).. just like how my friend/cousin say such things and I respond back..

But, it doesn't mean the movie intended to insult Rafi sahab.. we all know he's a legendary singer despite what a few people might think.

It's almost an ignorant or rather an innocent opinion - that was merely shown by a director/script writer.

see my response to anonymous 39 where i have already referenced to love-katty's reply...which means I totally agree with this.

What i'm against is calling those people 'Touchy' or asking them to 'grow up'.
If some people are touchy then that's what they are. Are they not allowed to voice their opinion? Tell some Britisher that they are cold and un-emotional and they'll proudly say that that's who we are. But here people will call out Indians for being touchy and emotional as if that's a bad thing. arrey that's who we are too...take it or leave it.

When the whole Bollywood industry is thriving on selling emotions then they should at least be careful of not offending the emotions of people, intentionally or unintentionally. But the problem is - these days people, like KJO, go out of their way to create controversies so that they can gain a few extra bucks even it it involves offending any particular segment of people.

Everything you say is a problem these days. It's become so easy for people to spend a minute and give free unwanted opinions creating controversies . Banning these social networking sites might help😳

@bold - yes I agree. It was the opinion of Anushka's character in that film...and also which, i believe, wasn't particularly offensive. But then I know how much people are emotionally attached to Rafi ji and can understand if they get offended by the same...so unless the dialogue wasn't absolutely necessary in taking the story forward, it could have been easily omitted.

I may not consider it disrespect towards Rafi ji (my personal opinion) but I will also not mock others (who consider it disrespect) by calling them touchy or advising them to grow up.
