Just because something is unique doesn't automatically make it good.

Being emotional is perfectly okay and singing songs and displaying feelings that other stiffer-lipped cultures wouldn't is not a bad thing. However, constantly getting offended and whining and protesting doesn't have anything to do with emotions - it has to do with self-importance and inability to let people have opinions different from yours.

OH HOW DARE EVERYONE NOT AGREE SACHIN IS THE GREATEST - we will show them by trolling all over twitter and insulting everyone in response! How dare someone call Rafi a cryer!! Let's protest and moan and whine about how insulted we are. People start burning effigies at the most minor slight because HOW DARE THEY not think exactly like me. Gimme a break.

I could write another paragraph in reply but I don't want to repeat what's already been said a million times. Read 'Love-Katty's' post (in the previous page) for more details.

edit - @bold - being good or bad is again an opinion not a fact. what may be good for you may be bad for others. why don't you let people have opinion different from yours. Besides if everyone was good the world would become soo boring. let a few Indian mortals be Bad ... for a change.

Do you see Hollywood heroes singing singing their hearts out after a break-up? Our Indians heroes do. Do you call them touchy or whiny too? why not start the 'growing up' phase with our movies that show actors singing on every small situation and THEN probably the change will follow in our Indian society too!

Being touchy / sentimental / emotional is resulting in honour killings...the parents are being touchy of their so called family values, name-fame being ruined.

Being touchy / sentimental / emotional resulted in the infamous incident of Dadri killing.

Being touchy or emotional is good for others as long as we empathize with others' misery.

There are 1000's waiting to insult and disrespect legends. agar family members he apney elders ki respect nahi karege toh baharwaley kya khak respect dege. Soon it will trend that will be used by every struggling director to insult legends to gain footage by creating controversy.

There is no point in talking about flop movie. Audience have rejected it. Kjo could have made movie without doormat and such dialogue, might have got different result.

you are only presenting one side of the story (that involves violence)

the non-violent side of Being touchy/sentimental results in parents and their children taking care of each other in their vulnerable ages. Being sentimental motivates us to give respect to our elders, teachers and our Gurus (Rafi sahab included) etc. etc.

no one is condoning violence but FOS is for everyone (though it should be within limits in my opinion) ... even those who disagree with KJO on Rafi's (supposed) insult should be allowed to voice their opinions as long as the protests are non-violent.

I will not comment on Dadri because I don't want to divert this topic.

okay ...so then you should agree that Being respectful towards our elders and especially the pride of the nation like Rafi, Lata etc. should be counted in the good side of being emotional...and people who are enraged on KJo for including dialogues that show disrespect towards Rafi (in their opinion) are justified in their outrage.

why give gyan (to grow up) to those who are against KJo on this matter? They are emotionally attached with Rafi and hence hurt by this dialogue...that's quite understandable giving the unofficial status of Rafi sahab as music guru and singing legend for thousands of people. Why can't you empathize with their feelings instead of complaining that they are so touchy?

I really admire the British people. They take so much pride in even little things that are a part of their culture. They are very respectful towards their heritage and legends unlike us Indians who have become self-loathing in the garb of being progressive while aping the US/western culture. Even the Chinese & Japanese are more respectful towards their uniqueness, individuality and culture than us Indians.

I agree with 9Tanki that if we Indians cannot give due respect to our national legends then we cannot expect others to be respectful towards them too.
