Neeraj Pandey directed M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story has managed to do the unthinkable. In its first week, the film has collected Rs. 94.13 crore at the Box Office. With this, it has managed to score the second highest Week One of 2016. Honestly, despite all the hype surrounding the film before its release, one wouldn't have expected such numbers to come in. However, the fact that the film has succeeded in doing that tells stories around how audiences have lapped up to the biopic in play.

The film is next only to Salman Khan's Sultan (which was in an altogether different league altogether) and has left behind the Week One collections of Rustom [Rs. 90.9 crore], Airlift [Rs. 83.5 crore] and Housefull 3 [Rs. 80.1 crore].

Made at a budget of Rs. 84 crore (plus Marketing), the film had already recovered Rs. 60 crore before release. This was due to satellite and music rights going for Rs. 45 crore and in-film revenue generating further Rs. 15 crore. With the film doing well in India as well as overseas, there are further profits coming in for Fox, hence lending it the status of being a solid Hit.

Another film in the running is Pink and that is also a Superhit. The film managed to hold on decently in its third week despite competition as big as M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story. With collections to the tune of Rs. 63.45 crore, the film has exceeded expectations already. The film's shows have reduced drastically due to two major films in town, both of which are vying for attention in multiplexes. Still, it has done its job and would maintain its status of being the 11th highest grosser of 2016 for a while now.

M.S. Dhoni - TUS Has Fair Second Week

M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story (Hindi) had a fair second week total of 23.50 crore nett taking its two week total to around 108 crore nett in its Hindi version. The dubbed version has grossed a further 6 crore nett. It is the fourth highest second week collections of the year after Sultan, Airlift and Rustom but the drop is also 73% which seems okay but the film went tax free in UP and Maharashtra in week two and on top had holidays in week two as well but still a big fall is there. If we compare the GROSS collections with Housefull 3 which has the fifth highest second week total of 2016 they are lower. The second week GROSS of Housefull 3 is around 31.50 crore while M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story is 29.50 crore Though obviously the Nett figures of Housefull 3 are lower as there were no tax exemptions. The collections of M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story till date are as follows

Week One - 84,64,00,000

Week Two - 23,50,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 1,08,14,00,000

Basically the film has trended below Housefull 3 which also had a weak trend. The film will get another two weeks run so should be able to go above 115 crore nett and possibly even to around 120 crore nett. This would make it the fourth highest NETT grosser of the year behind Sultan, Rustom and Airlift.

M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story (Hindi) is heading for a 8 crore nett apprx total for its third week which will be the fourth highest third week collection of the year. The tax exemptions and weak competition is giving the film a better run that what would have been expected after the falls in the weekdays of the first week. The way the film is going it is going to be the second highest grosser of 2016 in all circuits barring the big three of Mumbai, Delhi /UP and East Punjab. In Mumbai circuit Gujarat has let it down while in the North it is Delhi city and East Punjab which have under performed due to a weak hero. UP in North has done better after the tax exemptions. Mysore will go over 10 crore nett which is a huge number for that circuit. The collections of M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story till date are as follows

Week One - 84,64,00,000

Week Two - 25,47,00,000

Day 15 - 1,25,00,000 apprx

Day 16 - 2,00,00,000 apprx

Day 17 - 2,00,00,000

Day 18 - 85,00,000

Third Weekend - 6,10,00,000

GRAND TOTAL - 1,16,21,00,000

M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story (Hindi) grossed a decent 8 crore nett in its third week taking its total to around 118 crore nett. The film has become the second highest grossing film in all circuits of India barring Mumbai, Delhi / UP and East Punjab which are the three biggest circuits of India. The film even got tax exemptions from week two onwards in Maharashtra and UP but still the overall business in Mumbai and Delhi / UP has remained lower than Rustom and Airlift. The best performance has come in Mysore and West Bengal whilw Delhi City, East Punjab and Gujarat have underperformed. The collections of M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story till date are as follows

Week One - 84,64,00,000

Week Two - 25,47,00,000

Week Three - 8,00,00,000 apprx

GRAND TOTAL - 1,18,11,00,000

The film will emerge the fourth highest grosser of the year after Sultan, Rustom and Airlift with the film looking to add another 3 crore nett business till Diwali which will give it a lifetime total of 121 crore nett apprx.
