But in this case, what happened to the second half was plain sad. My dad was like, they probably didn't want to complicate things by showing details of his captaincy as he took quite a few bold decisions during some crucial matches. Maybe. But still they could have done justice to the movie by just being vaguely insightful over his thought process and composure during tense situations. For example, while speaking about Dhoni's team losing and Yuvraj's winning, MSD says that they lost the match.. not on the ground but a night before, where the team members were already kind of intimidated by Yuvi's confidence and game. And all of it was implied. Wish there were more moments like these and not repeated romantic scenes with both the ladies. So cheesy. 🤔

M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Falls Again On Tuesday

Box Office India Trade Network

M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story is find it tough going on the weekdays with another noticeable drop on Tuesday. The film looked set to be a huge hit with its weekend collections but since Monday the collections are coming down fast. It should scrape through to HIT status due to a weak line up of releases. After the weekend it looked set to be close to 100 crore nett in seven days but now the way it is going it may not even reach there in 10 days. The collections in the North are now actually down to poor levels which will make it tough in the North in week two and that will tell in all India collections as Mumbai comes down in week two anyway compared to circuits in North and Central India. The weekend business of M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story is as follows

Friday - 20,00,00,000
Saturday - 19,00,00,000
Sunday - 22,50,00,000
Monday - 7,25,00,000
Tuesday - 6,25,00,000

TOTAL - 75,00,00,000

The first week of the film will be around 84-85 crore nett but the film really has to settle at some point either today or tomorrow where the drop is minimal as Friday will see a drop as there will be Mirziya and a copule of other films fighting for screen space.

Decent movie
Here performance was better than likes of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

But what let down the movie was poor screenplay and editing.

Long, dragged and boring scenes appeared more often. Otherwise some real hard hitting scenes like when train appeared in closed platform and door opens with Dhoni chant gave goosebumps and so did Priyanka's death.

All cast were good. Sushant was god but his teeth really annoyed me. Real Dhoni at times appeared to be more handsome than Sushant. Kiara and Disha were loveable. Disha is cute and very attractive. Kiara was good too and a decent actress. Bhumika Chawla was good but had nothing much to do. Rajesh Sharma was awesome as the coach, he is amongst one of the most underrated actors in industry today whether TWMR, Bajrangi Bhaijaan or Dhoni now. Anupam Kher though as Pan Singh Dhoni, stole the show in the end with teary eyes.

Overall a decent movie. 👏

Too long. And please get someone better to do the editing Mr Pandey

Why is BOI dissing the film so much in all their articles ? The figure it has reported is also lower than what all other sites and trade analysts have reported. Why so?

M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story Turns Out To Be A Profitable Venture Within One Week
By Koimoi.com Team -October 7, 2016

Fox could well be smiling from ear to ear. When they spent a fortune making the film and the procuring rights of the real footage from BCCI, many wondered if it would all turn out to be worth it. After all, the only biopic to have really well in the recent times was Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and that had Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Farhan Akhtar coming together. While Neeraj Pandey indeed carries good reputation as a director and Sushant Singh Rajput too has established his worth as an actor, the ROI [return on investment] for M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story had to be much bigger if it were to be a hit.

Well, that has now happened indeed, what with 94.13 crore coming in at the Box Office in one week flat.

Fox played their game well because even though they spent 84 crore (not including the cost of marketing) into making the film, they also ensured that there was good ground covered even outside revenues expected from theatrical sales.

Sushant Singh Rajput in a still from M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story
Sushant Singh Rajput in a still from M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story
First step in this direction was to earn revenue worth 15 crore from in-film spots. In addition, they also incorporated music in the film while also heating up the film well as a family affair. That also earned them a very good slot for satellite deals and eventually that along with music further brought in 45 crore. With 60 crore already in their kitty before release, it was time to up the ante.

Next step was to give the film a massive global release that went way beyond 5000 screens. This translated into a major perception around the film being a biggie in the offering. Bulk bookings further helped the cause and a Day One of 21.3 crore took the game to an altogether different level. From this point on, there was no looking back for the film. Yes, given the weekend collections of 66 crore, the film could well have enjoyed a Week One of 100 crore as well. However, even though it has not managed to do that, collections to the tune of 94.13 crore are still remarkable by a huge distance.

The film has been retained at a good number of shows despite the arrival of another biggie, Mirzya. Though this would mean that there would be a hit in collections today, good growth is expected on Saturday and Sunday as this is when family crowds would be back in theaters to watch the film.

Another film in the running, Pink, has fetched 64 crore* so far and is a Superhit already. It has to be seen how much further does it go beyond the 66-67 crore mark now.

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
