@bold yes, I felt that too and even said it when the trailer released. I knew the story already so why go. I thought though, the film was going to be showing a lot of Kat's abs and a lot of dancing was going to be involved since the songs and Kat was the selling point.

Not only that but the film just dragged on. I didn't even watch all of it. I actually laughed at the pregnancy scene though...and the break up scene

Everyone around me laughed at the breakup scene😆

i felt so bad for kat in that scene... it was fine for me until she has her back turned to him and then she looks back at him to deliver that line... it was just comically bad... really not the emotion to go for in that scene 😆😆

Frankly speaking the movie *sucked* --- everything sucked from acting to story to direction --- Only thing worth mentioning are the *songs* ---- otherwise movie was very bad --- story had no head or tail to it ---- commitment phobic didn't want to get married --- yet in future he's married to Kat --- that's 180 for his character shown in beginning ---- many such illogical stuff --- not a proper sci-fi nor a proper romantic movie --- Like I said *sucked*

Am I the only one who liked the decent storyline other than confusing concept from Baar Baar Dekho? Sure Katrina could have worked on her emotional parts but still...I liked it?

i fear adhm might have a similar fate as bbd if the leaked story is true, but the title song has me emotionally invested and from time to time when i listen to it... i am moved enough to want to watch the movie then i have to remind myself its a kjo movie 😆

my guess is for movies to work commercially... they need to make the audience care deeply about the main characters and they need to have a strong second half building up to the climax where the audience cares what happens to the characters...in 1998 kuch kuch hota hain was watched by the younger generation and the older generation... by people who were educated and uneducated, but they were all emotionally invested in the characters and what happened to them.. movies are not about intellect or life lessons... in a romantic one it has to have an emotionally payoff...it could have an happy ending or a sad ending like aashiqui 2...but it has to touch the audience... in today's times what astonishes me the most is that makers care more about showing corsica than about the emotional depth of the characters and the climax whether it can make the audience feel for the characters...

Very very well said...emotional investment is what makes the movie tick, especially more so now than ever as consumerism is on the rise and people have easy access to not just movies but also other sources of entertainment right at their fingertip.

With so many alternatives available, moviemakers should work doubly hard to get the audience connected with their story and characters and move beyond superficial trappings otherwise footfalls will not materialise.

Another thing about this movie in particular is that many members here emphasised on how the movie was visually beautiful and had excellent cinematography, I kinda have to disagree. Despite watching it on the big screen there wasn't a single piece of cinematographic work that had me marvelled. When comparing it to Farhan and Zoya's movies, it definitely fell short technically too.

It was a decent first attempt by Nitya but nothing exceptional to have long legs. I was expecting a high opening though on account of the hit songs but I guess the stardom of the lead pair was not sufficient enough to ensure that.

Cant speak for everyone but I for one was interested in the film due to the songs and fun looking trailer. But I am no fan of either actor and director is also new so I thought I would first check the reviews and then go. As an audience I wasnt expecting something pathbreaking in terms of acting or storyline. Just maybe a bit entertaining like MBKD? But once the reviews started coming in there was no question of going for the movie. But what is most surprising is that the movie didnt get a good opening despite the hype, promotions, good songs and good screen count. Katrina's main fan base is the male audience and Sid's is supposed to be young girls as per him. Both of these audience land up FDFS. So why didnt these people come?

lots of those male fans have now shifted to shradha

i have so many friends who are totally crazy about shradha now..earlier they were for katrina during SIK times

shradha also dances pretty well and her sun saathiya made her a rage among guys..so most of that male base has shifted to the likes of shradha..again age is just a no. but it matters in India..can't deny the obvious..male fan base now like late 20s and very desirable shradha than entering 34 katrina with a much changed appearance..

like articles reported..katrina has lost her BO pull and here is basically why..

It is indeed puzzling. The buzz seemed high, music had clicked, trailer had gotten a good response, they promoted it so well. I was certain it was going to take a double digit opening. Now I'm confused as to what actually brings in the audience on the first day. Star power alone or buzz? 😕

The point about multiplex audience not having any interest in seeing the leads makes sense I guess, although still very surprising.

I saw the film last night and yes its a weak film, I can see why it didn't click. For the multiplex audience the film just isn't well executed or that well acted and for the single screens it just isn't entertaining enough either.
