NRIs living outside is not the same as an indian celeb who lives in india but gave up his citizenship ...huge difference there. With his situation i don't know how he can treat both his birth country and his nationality country the same 😕

Arey, I have been living here in US for 22 yrs and I havent given up my Indian citizenship yet. Still living here with green card.
Toh Akki ki baat mujhey samajh hi nahin aa rahi why he gave up Indian citizenship. 😕
India mein rehkar bhi Canadian citizen...
Some desis here retire after getting US citizenship and then go back to live in India.
Does Akki plan to retire in Canada thats why he did this? 😕

That is the thing I am also asking. Why are you looking upto others to see what they are doing and how much they are helping or not helping? Why not be the change you wish to be? Those living abroad has been doing and have done a lot and you cant expect them to solve all of your problems. You have the power to vote. Go and ask those who you voted where is the results. Form your own parties enter poltiics or become IAS officers and bring change. Complaining to foreigners to help out with your mumbai traffic or hope to see them all move back leaving everything they built their lives on so they could bail you out when you gripe about the problems on the internet?

Aah the irony...I am a UPSC aspirant in fact and giving my exams this year as well. So yes I am attempting to be the change in the country from within that you demand atleast at my personal level.

And yes you are a foreigner, it does boil down to that at the end of the day, irrespective of your origin or supposed patriotism. You can rub your hands off the country, we can't and we won't.

And that is great. Everyone should do their own part. It is a lot easier to criticize the difficulties foreigners have faced during their transitions and the price they paid in making life for themselves and those around them better including their families back home. Now that you entered the arena your fight begins now. Your civic duty compels you to do more. And you also have the power to vote. Something we don't

here is his duall answer to the economist , just like dual citizenship 😆

You seem to have strong ties to Canada. What is the connection?

I have a strong affiliation with Canada and also have dual citizenship. It's a place that I really love"the open terrain, the scenery, the wide roads and the clean streets. It's the complete contrast of my homeland, although I love India for all the opposite reasons and it's my home. I was honoured with a doctorate degree from The University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada, for my contribution to the Indian film industry and for my social work in Canada.

He has also been named Canada's tourism ambassador to India, to promote Canada as a destination for Indian tourists. lol

I am in the same boat , living in UK since 2000 and have the option of going for British passport but i chose to keep indian passport ...though kids have british passports now . I am also not unable to understand Akshay's reason behind the decision , though all the justifications here well and good but a patriotic indian celeb who never lived in canada for a long time but preferred canada over india still lives in india 😕 why ??? is a question i will always ask .

What I meant was, Ek pc fan ki vajeh se, sare pc fans ko roj galiyan sunani padti hai. That was context of, 'mere naam ka bhi fatata hai' line from above post.

As for Being Akki fan, ab aap wo bhi bula lo. But mene kabhi srk fans ko desh-drohi nahi bola. I may argue about politics and since I support current govt, we are on different side. still, I have never called srk or his fans, desh-drohi. par aap toh jo manana chahoge, wahi manoge. so carry on. 😆
