@Boss... when you ask whether people staying back and becoming a part of the problem is patriotic, it makes no sense. How are those not living here solving our problems from abroad?? Are we living off your remittances?? You need to check our BOP to only realise that India earns far more through its services exports than it does through remittances.

Also since when is staying back equivalent to becoming a part of the problem. There is more to India than its so-called problems, you'd know that had you lived here.

I am talking about griping and groveling about it but then rolling over and going about with it. We want to end corruption but everyone likes to give 50 100 rupees to traffic constable and get away because they do not want to pay what is the book fine. How many people cheat on their tax returns so they can save more? How many people throw garbage beside them rather than walking 5 feet more to the dust bin? This is what I am talking about. By complaining about things or mumbai traffic isnt going to solve anything. People who voted those politicians should be asking them real tough questions and boycotting things till heads start to roll. Everyone has some responsibility in making life easier for them.

Its not a case of doubting patriotism of those who live outside India and have foreign passports.
Most NRIs are deeply patriotic towards their home country, its a mixture of nostalgia, guilt complex, clinging to our roots, traditions, culture, etc.
We are not talking abt NRIs here but an Indian actor who lives and works in India but still gave up Indian citizenship and took Canadian one. WHY? 😕

He has never lived for a long time in Canada, has he?

Indians who give up Indian citizenship are the ones who have lived abroad for a long time or at least long enough to get that country's citizenship.
Why did Akshay feel the need to give up Indian passport and get Canadian citizenship?

The reason to doubt him more is because he spouts such patriotic jargon in his movies.
Is that all for the sake of public image and making his films successful under the current regime?

Exactly ..kahan se kahan topic ko pahuncha diya .
NRIs living outside is not the same as an indian celeb who lives in india but gave up his citizenship ...huge difference there. With his situation i don't know how he can treat both his birth country and his nationality country the same 😕

You sound like Cornwallis who denounced Indians for their corrupt ways. Nice to pass judgement on our lives when you haven't walked in our shoes.

My only question is how are you solving our problems of corruption, infrastructure and the like by preaching from abroad?? How is running away from these problems in any way helping the country you claim fealty and patriotic love for??

Dude what trillions...you need a crash course in the Indian economy if you are living under such delusions. Majority of Indian FDI is routed through a tax haven called Mauritius through a phenomenon known as roundtripping. Which means its the Indian black money which is being made white through the round trip and being invested in India.

So yeah essentially Indians are their own source of FDI.

The UPA governement and the present Modi government knows well the contributions and the power that foreign Indians weild. If you think Indians abroad are not investing in India and money is growing out of thin air then that is upto you. India is one of the emerging markets and a lot of people have invested wisely in India. Some have invested in properties and factories. You think the call centres and IT market is not helping India when several hundred thousand Indians are employed, areas developed and new partnerships are formed by countries? India is far from self sufficient and it isnt just Indians in India who are helping India what it is becoming. NRI's play a very important role in this at every level.

And Akshay chose more valuable paper and gave up less valuable paper ( in his opinion ) where he and his family can reap the benefits when they want - as simple as that 😆

That is the thing I am also asking. Why are you looking upto others to see what they are doing and how much they are helping or not helping? Why not be the change you wish to be? Those living abroad has been doing and have done a lot and you cant expect them to solve all of your problems. You have the power to vote. Go and ask those who you voted where is the results. Form your own parties enter poltiics or become IAS officers and bring change. Complaining to foreigners to help out with your mumbai traffic or hope to see them all move back leaving everything they built their lives on so they could bail you out when you gripe about the problems on the internet?
